    Hey folks.

In my hunt for a new gaming laptop I've stumbled across an option in Xoticpc.com to upgrade the stock Sager / Clevo keyboard to a steelseries Chiclet keyboard. I just wanted to ask if anyone here has purchased the laptop with this upgrade and how theyfeel about it.

I've never owned a Sager / Clevo model before so I'm kind of curious about how high of quality their stock keyboards are as well. And what about the reliability of replacing a laptop keyboard? Are the keyboards perfectly compatible or are there going to be some hiccups from replacing the keyboard?

    Thanks

As far as I know both keyboards are back lite Steel Series keyboards so they have the quality you would expect either way. So it's up to your personal preference as to what you want to go with.
I am indifferent towards keyboard types but I will be getting the default island style one because that's what I am used to.

The FN keys will be labelled wrong if you get the SteelSeries.
Here is a picture of the SteelSeries keyboard. It's not my picture, but I can't remember whose it is...

Speaking of Fn keys - is there any way to reconfigure your Fn keys or change their settings? I've got a little Asus laptop and none of the Fn keys work and I don't know how to change their settings.

Mystery of the Fn key - A guide to remapping the Fn key in Windows
Check this out. It's definitely not the easiest, but it works.

You probably just need to install a driver though.

As gkrules has stated, your issues likely lie with some software or drivers you forgot to install. Try re-installing ATK hot-key package from the Asus website.

    Thanks for the info!

Wasn't sure whether I wanted the upgrade, but I'd rather not deal with remapping Fn keys!
