I called Xoticpc today. I wanted to ask if they had some processor options on the NP8662 in stock, and how the June Intel price reduction / new models were going to affect the order I intended to place today.

He told me, they have everything in stock.
He then told me, that if I bought a processor, and a new model came in June 1st, that I would be upgraded.
I asked about the 9600, and the story changed to .. "Maybe"
I asked the same question again, and the story changed to "I can't release information on unreleased products".

My purchase is on hold, indefinitely. I felt like I was dealing with Dell.

FYI - Yes, or No. There is no maybe when I'm dropping $2000

Wow, who needs to get fired there? They are playing with XoticPc's high reseller rating.

Xotic PC is not the only Sager reseller, you know. If you are having too much trouble with them, consider buying from powernotebooks.com

Cyrin - If I have you identified correctly you spoke with Justin W. I reviewed the call and what was provided is that our standard production time of 3-7 business days is accurate right now with the new processors being released and arriving next week. Per Intel NDA we can not list the new processors until next week. If a order were placed you would be moved to the latest processor that is released next week. :) There would be uncertainty with the P9600 with the NDA on these new processors. There will be a new CPU released and any customer who purchases the P9600 will get the new faster CPU at no charge.

    NDA = Non Disclosure Agreement.

Hopefully this helps shed some light on why we can only list certain info due to Intel NDA on the new Processors coming out. Sorry for any confusion.

So all the sideways talk and *wink winks* aside, long story short, if I buy the NP8662 with the P9600 next week instead of this week the processor will be better?

Yes ;) ;) :D If you purchase this week you will be automatically upgraded to the new CPU. :) Next week you can order with the new CPU option listed for purchase.

Dude, it's just one person. Doesn't mean the whole company is bad.

I had a great experience with XoticPC, everything is working like a dream.

Out of curiousity, what CPU is being released next week???
And out of curiousity, is it possible to buy CPU and HDD from Xotic without buying a whole new lappy?

I'm in the middle of buying an NP8662 via xoticpc and it is a rush order. The guy - Joe - I've been working with has been very communicative and informative about issues and updates during every step of the process.

It hasn't been all gravy in terms of a few items being out of stock and needing to alter my original order, but so far during the sales/build process the amount of information, my options, and the proactive communication I have received has been outstanding.

I'll save my final verdict until I have the unti in hand, but so far I've been very satisfied.

I have nothing but 100% satisfaction with XoticPC. I love my 8662 so much it is ridiculous. I just got it about a week ago and both Justin's were really really great. I even altered the order a month after it was payed for. (I payed for it and waited a month, then I decided I didn't want vista anymore, they refunded me the 100 bucks and I got the refund within 2 days)

Everything is great. By the way, you probably won't even notice real world differences between this processor and the newest one. Yes, the benchmarks will be better and everything, but in terms of the laptop, this thing has never lagged on me, even in crysis.

Justin - Thanks for clearing up the matter.
Everyone - I realize this company is well liked on this site, and that is the reason I gave them a shot in the first place.

NDA's can be the suck, and since that was apparently the reason for the confusion, it's understandable. As far as first impressions go, this left a bad taste in my mouth, though I appreciate your (Justin's) quick response and forthrightness.

You sure can. You can swap out CPU, Ram, HDD etc if you wanted to. :)

No problem, glad to help. ;)
