Can anyone tell me what the difference is? It looks like the NP8150si costs ~$90 less for the config I'm looking at so I want to know what the price difference is...

S1 is the same notebook, it's just a discounted price for that particular configuration.

These computers are identical except for the stock configuration. The S1 has higher specs and cost less then the standard NP8150 with the same specs. If you're looking to get the higher end hardware the S1 has go with that one as it will cost you less.

    Thanks,

Now I guess the final thing I'm weighing is my impatience vs the release of the 6970...

For $2129 and no tax is the best deal I've found after going to 20 or so sites. PCTorque had it for about $5 more, but their issue is that they are in NY like me so the 8.375% tax would make theirs more even if I drop by their store to avoid shipping...

That said has anyone bought from PCTorque and want to comment about them? Having support close by is convenient (they're only like 10 miles from me). I could consider having them ship it to my parents, even though I don't feel safe having a $2k laptop potentially sitting on their porch...

I haven't bought from PC Torque before, but I have bought from Xotic and they are awesome.

One suggestion that I might have though. You said you were thinking about getting the 6970. From the emails I have received, as well as all the posts from resellers on this forums, it sounds like this unit is back ordered until mid February right now, no matter what options you order. If you want to get this as soon as possible, why don't you place your order now? If the 6970 comes out before then, you can contact the reseller you are buying it from and just tell them to change your configuration. I have done that once with my Xotic order already, and they had no problem helping me out. Just a suggestion, but it would help you to get your unit as quickly as possible. Just a thought.
