Hi folks, I preordered an np8660 from XoticPC and they received my money order at the end of July. Now after twelve days, my account still says pending payment. What method of payment have you used and how many days did it take to register your payment?

No offense, but money orders can be faked and you usually do not find out for about two or three weeks. I'm guessing it will take a few more days for it to clear.

I think they told me check will take two weeks to clear, so that is why I paid with credit card and it hasn't cleared yet ...

xoticPC cleared my money orders within a day.

that's because they don't really your phrases. next update you receive from them would be "you order shipped". It happened to all of us.

youdontneedtoknow, you should probably check with your credit card company. It may be that they put a stop on the payment that was meant to go to Xotic incase it was fraudulent.

I just checked with my credit card company and they said there is no problem on their end and they have not received a request for the transaction.... so I guess Xotic PC hasn't tried to get the money from my credit card yet ... not sure what they are waiting for ...

i used a CC also wih xotic and got an email a day later asking for some info on the back of the cc. you sure you didn't receive a followup email asking for more info a day or so later? check spam filters etc or scroll through other emails to see if it is in there. or as Dit_xi says just call Justin I am sure he wants to take money from a good paying customer :)

I just ordered this morning with my credit card, and I emailed Xoticpc like 5 times, but haven't get a response yet. I also used the live chat, but the chat room froze before I can get any answers.

If you have a picture of the check from your Bank and you send the pic to Xotic, it might speed things up.

    Ordered mine on July 31st.
Personal Check was sent that day.

Check was recieved by xoticpc on August 5th.

Check cleared my account on August 8th.

Still pending on their side as of right now.

Sent an e-mail on monday....no response as of right now.

CALLED today and left a message around 9:30am cst with customer service and no return call as of right now.

EDIT STARTS HERE (8-13-08 9:00am cst)
Got a call from xoticpc....seems that my bank is not working with them to verify the payment. They asked for a copy of both sides of the check as seen on my account online. (nothing but right clicking, saving, and e-mailing)

Edit Starts Here Again (8-13-08 9:25am cst)
OK...we are talking less than 5 minutes after xoticpc recieved my images they have already updated my account.

New status: Phase 1 (Pending Parts or Item Arrival)

Love the customer service with xoticpc...

Paypal e check is just like writing a check and sending it to them. The difference is that paypal guarantees the funds because it's coming from your bank or credit card account. Xotic discounts you 3% with echeck because unlike a credit card payment, a fee isn't added for collecting the funds, and they pass on the savings back to you!

To use e-check just use a different form of payment and select e-check. It still takes about 3 working days to clear.

Its not an e-check unless its coming straight from a bank account. They just specify e-check so that you dont pay with a credit card via paypal, which would defeat the purpose of the discount and using paypal :)

yes, echeck in paypal can not be paid with a credit card. It has to be a verified back account. And if you pay with this method you do get the 3% discount...

Hmmm. My order went from "Pending Payment" to "Pending Parts" just a couple of days after I sent over the wire transfer. You should really call 'em and find out if there's anything up.

So have some people been charged and others not?

I pre ordered mine the 2nd day it was available... when the Canadian Dollar and US dollar were equal.. They still haven't charged my credit card at this point and the balance between the US and Canadian Dollar has shifted enough right now that I'm looking at an extra $150 because they haven't charged my card yet... I'm not even sure what I should do!

I believe that the practice is that payment is not actually taken until the system is ready to ship, and then the system is only shipped once payment has cleared. So, if your system isn't ready to ship yet, the reseller will not have started a transaction with your credit card company, or cashed your money order; it only makes sense if you think about it, because if they were to complete the payment process before the system was ready to ship, and then had to make a refund (because, for example you changed your mind), there would be two separate bank transactions, each bearing it's own clearing fees and transaction fees - why double up on fees if you don't have to?

Finally, why come and ask a question like this here first, instead of contacting your reseller? They're going to be in a much better position to tell you what's going on with your payment than any of the gadflys here will. And don't say it's because you don't trust them - if you don't trust them, why'd you send them money in the first place?

You mean clueless? There's no point in coming here first, before you call your reseller. Call first, then come here if the reseller gives you a fishy answer, that way you've got something constructive to talk about; otherwise, it's just a waste of time.

Some of us have called and e-mailed the company...and now we are using this thread to communicate about what and how we had to handle it.

Come to find out on my end it wasn't XoticPC at all...it was my bank not working with them.

However from this thread people have sent me messages about how best to handle it with my bank.

Actually Xotic charges you straight away. It's what determines your place in line, order of payment. They won't even begin to process your order/build your system until you've paid in full.

I thought that was not the case either so I held off on my wire-transfer but I received an email saying they would basically not do anything until they'd received the funds.

Though for my credit card, I am already in the following phase:

Phase 1 (Pending Parts or Item Arrival)

And XoticPC hasn't charged me yet.
