Forgive me if this has been discussed already. I've been trolling XoticPC for some time and looking specifically at the low to mid range models. They seem to be disappearing of late. I first noticed the NP5160 and NP5165's disappeared and now the NP8130 is gone. Any ideas what's up?

Some of the older models have been discontinued and are being phased out for newer models coming out soon. I'm sure a reseller can comment more accurately on this :)

Sager is phasing out all their current models. As they remove them so must we and all other Sager resellers. The only ones currently left is the NP8170 and the NP9270 which is still a pre order.

If you're in need of a laptop now, builders still have Clevo branded machines available. I know Mythlogic still has all models/options available. I believe Malibal does as well..?

I'm getting it around the 15th march. Will they be there already d'you think?

And how about the new MSI 15" barebone? That will probably take a while huh.

In any case I'd really love to get a 8150 on a sale because of the new models ;)

    That's good news Hutsady.

Can you help us with what the differences are in these new models versus the old ones? The information is rather scattered throughout the forums right now.

Some things are still under NDA so they cant be discussed. What we are able to talk about publicly is listed.

Lol, I was wondering the same.

My guess is NP8151 is P150EM and NP8171 is P170EM.

It is all related to the NDA's in place about listing specific models and the technology in those models. Until the NDA has been lifted we unfortunately can't list anything specific. Those that order now save $50 :)

How can you order without knowing pricing for upgrades (GPU/CPU)?

Either way as soon as full info is available I will be ordering, time to upgrade from NP5797

Yes you can. They won't charge you so it's basically getting your place in line.. You can cancel at any time.. They're offering a little discount right now over what prices are expected to be once all parts are announced..

If you need a laptop now, Mithlogic and Malibal still have the current gen available..

It seems like without the new spec the only additional feature is the Display Port. That's $77 more than the old chassis. Is it worth it to get the new chassis with the old spec just for the display port? If I order from xotic with the old spec with the new chassis now when can I expect my laptop to arrive?

$77 is for the DP, backlit keyboard, and the better chipset.

The other question you would be better to send a PM to Xotic and ask them directly to see when you would receive your laptop.

Well I'm buying the P151EM and I don't think that model comes with back-lit keyboard. I think I might get the old chassis from Malibal once I can confirm if the shipping cost (ground) is already included in the price quote otherwise xotic it is.

The current ETA is April 12. Keep in mind that is just an Estimate as we cant be sure until they are physically in hand. Also allow for production and shipping time.

    Hutsady, two quick questions:

    1. For the 16F2, why is it more expensive to get the OCZ vertex 3 120 gb ssd as main drive and the 640 gb 5400 drive as the second drive than the other way round?

    2. When will you offer decent graphic cards (i.e 6990 and 580 GTX) with the new 15" Sager?

    1) they could give you an answer into seconds if you used their online chat

    2) 580/6990 probably won't see their way into the new models unless nVidia/AMD take forever releasing their higher end GPU's. And even then it'll be limited to what the reseller can get in stock.. If you want 580/6990 off the bat, you'd probably be better off going with a builder as they'll be more likely to have extra last gen parts. They're under NDA so they aren't going to be able to discuss these things yet

If you have us upgrade the primary drive and add a secondary drive it does cost more. This does require physically installing two drives and we also need to install Windows on the primary drive as well as drivers and utilities. If you keep the primary hard drive as is and add a SSD in the second drive all we have to do is install one drive and no further software install. The difference in price is to cover the additional labor.

The part I don't understand is that Clevo was supposed to be showing the new models during CeBIT, hence have an booth or something.

Pictures or videos should be out there already.

    am I missing something?

Thanks for the answer, but it just does not make sense. You're basically saying that the default drive comes with the barebone. However, if I select another drive, for example, a 500gb sata2 drive and then an ssd as the second, the price is x, if I switch them around the price is higher.

I understand that you do this to get more profit as people will want to put a sata 3 drive in the first bay to get more bang out of their buck, but then why answer differently? Could have come clean.

But thanks for saying something, at least.

I think you might be misunderstanding. It sounds like the unmodified base models come preinstalled with the basic 500GB HD (which also has Win7 on it?). If you want to upgrade your primary HD, it means they have to remove the stock one and replace it with a new one, and then re-install the OS onto the new one.

If you keep the base HD and upgrade with a secondary one, there's not going to be the extra labor cost to swap the primary HD or re-install the OS on the new drive.

Yes, I think I misunderstood at first. The default drive is 640gb, though. I was trying combinations with this drive. A few days ago the standard drive was the 500gb one (or maybe it was for the Sager 8150 model), so I think that is where I got this idea. So hutsady is correct in his post.

@hutsady: Sorry, I was frustrated but now I understand what you mean and agree on the excuse for extra charges.
