Is it better to buy directly from Sager or through another company like XoticPC? Or something else? Most people seem to like XoticPC the most it seems here. Are they definitely #1 for purchasing a Sager notebook?

Sager resellers like Powernotebooks and XoticPC are probably the most well known and highly rated (in BBB and resellerratings).
Highly recommend to order through a reseller since:
- you will get a better deal (slightly)
- most importantly, get legendary service/support -
From what I read here, Sager's known to give crappy support once the unit's been sold. I used Xoticpc personally and got great support before and during my order. I haven't had too much to ask them after other than some driver support, but no issues with my unit as a whole.

I speak from what I've read here. I thought I made that quite clear.

Go with Sager if you want to talk to arrogant India each time you call in.
Go with Xotic if you want to talk to local friendly American techs.
No brainer if you ask me. -
Yeah, I've seen Justin help lots of people and he always answered quickly to all my questions. I don't know about Sager, but xoticpc sure has a really great service.

Xotic or Powernotebooks.
Sager's customer support will get you irritated if you go direct. I can say that from first hand experience.
If you look through the forum here, few pages back there's topics on several of the resellers as to why certain customers are not fond of one or the other. -
One more vote for Xoticpc. They were very friendly and helpful when I purchased mine!
The only Sager folks I have dealt with are the Tech Support folks. They are nice enough, but I think there is a bit of a language barrier that can make things a little bit difficult at times.

I'd suggest that you not go direct with Sager; pick a reseller you like, that has a price you can deal with, and with whom you can work (you figure that out by calling them up and discussing your proposed configuration with them), and go with that company. Sager does one thing pretty well - assembling systems and doing serious technical repairs - Sager does not do customer service or basic customer support very well at all; the resellers do customer service well, do basic customer support well, and will get your equipment sent in to Sager for serious technical work about as quickly as if you'd gone direct to Sager.
Basically, Sager and its resellers appear to have worked out a good modus vivendi where each focuses on what each does best - Sager does the hardcore technical stuff and the resellers do the selling and the basic customer support - so you'll do better if you go with that arrangement rather than trying to work against it (call it the Zen of Buying a Sager).

i vote pctorque...they have accidental warranty plans. Plus you can buy a laptop without an HD (you save 50 bucks). They were sold and good with me.
But xoticpc is always quite popular...but I am not one to go for what everyone else is using...after all I'm not using a dell am I? -
PC torque here too...Ben is a good guy...I recently ordered a 5797 and the geforce 280m is back order...But that is not pc tourqe's fault...Great customer service

so apparently there are 2 justin's at xoticpc. which one is everyone talking about? lol...there's "justin" and "justin w."
-
justin nolte is the owner. i am not sure who justin w. is, but he was very helpful with answering my emails.
-
Xotic were very good with my purchase.
One thing though: Dont buy their notebook cooler. What looks like a Zalman NC2000 on their website is actually a Bytec imitation. A small "scam" on their part I believe, but they made up for it in customer support. -
In other words, Justin Nolte is Justin W's boss. -
And the one on NBR is Justin Timberlake.
-
Try prostar.com have good warranty plan.
