So yesterday afternoon I finally ordered my new laptop, a Sager 5760. I am ofcourse very excited and impatient at this now waiting for it lol. I was curious if anyone who has ordered from xoticpc can tell me how long it took them to get through all their phaes...I've head they should make it through phase 1 quickly but it is still there since yesterday...I know I am being super impatient but just wondering if someone can give me an idea about how long I have to lie in angiush waiting lol

XoticPC offers great support, by the sounds of it, you should be in good hands. Probably can't hurt to send a short message to them though asking when to expect the notebook will arrive.

Yeah they are really good. They called my house and notified me of the laptops progress and confirmed my information. Very helpful and polite. Even told me when they expected it to be finished and shipped. I made a good choice going xoticpc.

It shouldn't be that long, took em a day or so to do mine.
Waiting from when you purchase to when it arrives at your door is the hardest part of buying a laptop I think.

Sager notebooks are shipped directly from Sager; it should take less than two weeks for a customized notebook to be at your doorstep. :)

I've had no problems with the Sager NP5760. It's a well built system. If there's any issues they can always be fixed one way or another without much todo. Plus XoticPC is reliable and has good support. I've only dealt with the Clevo "M" series and not the desktop replacement "D" series. It seems the D series had many more problems. The NP5760 is a Clevo M570U for reference.

I've had my 5760 on about 10 hours/day for the last year and it's still going strong.

That actually brought a laugh out of me. Right now my Sony Vaio Desktop of 5 years takes 8 minutes to load internet explorer with nothing else running. It frequently crashes. Also randomly deletes files I may have saying they are corrupt. And my computer has no viruses that support could find when I sent it or what.

I'd be much happier with this Sager possibly having a small problem a year from now and have the good support I am already getting from xoticpc behind it then what I have right now with finals ahead. So I really don't have worries at this point--what I will have coming will be better then what I have now.

I don't believe I said anything unfriendly and certainly not unclean. I simply thought it was rude of that guy to bash on GraveFox's purchase (which he should rightfully be excited about!) Was I in the wrong? I don't think so.

Had this thread been titled "What's your opinion of Sager/Clevo?", perhaps his comments would have been warranted.

At any rate, congratulations on your purchase GraveFox!! I'm going to be buying the same set up in the next day or two and I can definately relate to your anticipation.

You are telling me! It just went into phase 4 (testing) yesterday so with any luck it will be shipped today :D . Thye called me again yesterday confirming it moved into the next phase too. I love xoticpc and they are doing a great job and checking in with me is not even required. I totally recommend ordering from them if you can OldManNoPants. Hoppefully I'll be ripping open the box on my 5760 mid next week :)

BTW Just a side note, I was looking at applying to Auburn University. How is it there?

Nah this was directed toward me ;). Check my post has been edited. But I completely agreed with you, and did not think my remark was that offensive.

    @Gravefox
Yeah my previous laptop (like 5 years ago) was a Compaq and I swear, 2 ½ years after I purchased (ouch 4 grands for a PII 350mhz) the thing was falling completely apart. I even have to yelled at the customer support because the mother board busted after 14 months (warranty was 12). They wanted me to pay another 1200$ for the mobo. Suckers. I'm never considering HP/Compaq again. I had bad exeperiences with both (at that time).

Its cool you were just giving me an account of what happened with you. I am sure I would do the same thing. I have good hope that this laptop will pull through for a while. I won't be moving it around too much mostly be sitting on a desk and I won't be doing any stupid things on it. Still at phase 4....I wish it would upadte already to shipping lol.

Usually we just ask people not to take it further than where it has already gone. It isn't you, but it isn't him either. Just wait until you read a thread that is a really big flame war, and you'll see why we post asking for this.

Auburn University is a wonderful school! The town is beautiful with plenty to do and see. What are you majoring in? Your major would be a big factor in whether or not to attend Auburn (like anywhere else) but I highly recommend the institution..I'm majoring in professional flight management (aviation) which has a pretty big program there, but they are traditionally a science, architecture, and agriculture school.

Speaking of Xoticpc, are they making any extra efforts for you as far as checking for dead pixels goes? I mean without having to buy the lame 200.00 deal pixel insurance.

I am looking into majoring in psychology and/or criminology...I am still a year away for going into college but I am starting to look now. .

As far as the pixels go, Justin asked me if I wanted a pixel policy as they have had issues before with it. I said I would be fine, but he said if anything did happen, he gave me his email and told me to email him if I had any problems with the screen and he would give me a discount to get it fixed. Xoticpc has great support and I am really happy to have ordered from them. A very good decision.

Must be nice. For some reason, I didn't receive any updates at all from XoticPC. I had to call or email for every status update. They didn't even update the status on their website until after it had been shipped. I had no idea what was really going on during the process.

Did you give them your e-mail? They send you an email every time something with your order has changed and/or updated. Justin even called me twice. I am not sure why you seem to not be getting updates...

And through the UPS tracking of my order, I found out that my laptop is traveling on schedule and should be at my house this Wensday. What about you ghostrider?

Thats great about Auburn U then. I will be doing more research on there then and on there psychology department. Maybe I will even see you there if I go ;)

Go back to the place from where you ordered it and where it says phase 5..there should be some kind of number or code there that you can put into the UPS tracking and it gives you a detailed report on where your order is and expected arrival.

A 2500$ piece of equipment shipped USPS  ?? That seems a little risky to me. I hope USPS priority have some kind of tracking system and is adequately insured!

I picked the free UPS ground for my shipping..the next available option was 3-Day Air at a whopping $78..It probably won't ship out until tomorrow as it is still being built. Anyone else used UPS ground to ship their computer? Should I be worried?

I know I receive clothing and what not from UPS mangled and squished, but I was under the impression that maybe this package would be a little more sturdy.

Didn't really have an option as xoticpc only offers UPS delivery. I think it will turn out fine, I have gotten nothing but great service from xoticpc and haven't heard about many problems with deliveries but fingers crossed...I should be gettibng mine in a fews hours.

Yeah, I mean i definately wouldn't be worried about your reseller. I just worry about UPS..their handling of packages reminds me of that opening scene of the first Ace Ventura Pet Detective where Jim Carrey is kicking the package up and down a hall and letting elevator doors close on it, hahaha.

Ok now you are just scaring me lol...I don't think it will be bad. If something is wrong with it or the package looks bad I will be giving UPS a mouthful...also after talking to xoticpc...I think if I got a bad delvery and my laptop is screwed up right out of the box I think something will be done with it...either way if the laptop isnt well someone will be getting a mouthful lol :D

    UPS != USPS

Nothing wrong with UPS - a lot of businesses use it everyday for things a lot more sensitive and valuable. It is still the biggest delivery service in the world regardless of all its problems.

There may be isolated incidents, but that happens with any courier service.

I feel better too, I just emailed RJTech and they said they have yet to have any serious issues due to package mishandling. The only thing they mentioned that has been a slight problem is people not requesting a signature upon delivery which allows UPS to just leave it on the front porch. Evidently on one occasion this resulted in a missing laptop (they suspect the neighbors)

I live in a fairly rural area though, so I'm not concerned about that.

Yeah I know this. Its only people who have actually had problems with it who come online and talk about it usually. But out of the people that actually use the service and dont have problems, I feel like my laptop is in decent hands.
