I purchased my Sager NP8170 from xoticpc.com less than a year ago and it was so expensive that I made the mistake of buying only a 1 year warranty.
My SSD failed and I had to send it back for a replacement and that just made me very nervous because I had it only less than a year and already I had problems with the $3000 I got from them. I begged for them to extend my warranty but they just would not allow me to purchase one.

They said it was something agaisnt Sagers rules...But im very scared because July is when my warranty will expire and anything that goes wrong with this laptop I will have to pay an arm and a leg to get it repaired. Is their anything that I can do?

    Thanks for the help.

For issues with specific resellers.. Warranties, etc.

Please deal directly with the vendors as there is nothing the forum can do to help in this situation.

No warranties can be added after such a long time of purchase, although you could try Squaretrade and see if they will agree to a warranty.

If you also used Chase / AMEX, I think they give an extra year of warranty.

Other than this, I don't think there are any aftermarket options.

Squaretrade is normally 30 days from purchase, like most warranty companies

here in the uk the company i bought from ceased trading.
we had 3 laptops and one of the ocz ssd's died after 4 months. even though we only had the basic one year cover on it which was lost since the ceased trading ocz actually cover the ssd's for 3 years so if after july anything dies its worth contacting the parts manufacturer who may still cover it. check their individual websites tech help for more info.

The forum is a two way avenue; maybe the forum cannot help much the OP but the topic is certainly relevant and informative for other members in how they deal their future purchases.

That's quite a terrible way to do business.

Other OEMs let you extend during the length of your warranty or purchase a new one.

Why don't you guys stand by your systems or make an effort to educate your customers?

I know for the Dell laptops I've had, I've been able to extend my warranties at any time as long as the original warranty has not run out.

We 100% stand behind what we sell. Along with Sager machines we are transparent and list any of our specific warranties can be purchased up to 90 Days from shipment. I am sorry Sager's policy is 90 days from shipment that we list on our warranty page. All manufacturers that offer extended warranties such as ASUS, Sager, 90 days from ship date is standard protocol. Most extended warranty companies only allow 30-60 days. Sorry I wish companies would allow more but they do not.

This is not about Xotic or any other seller standing by their system. The OP gambled and lost. He should have educated himself, read the fine print and asked questions. It's his money, his purchase, his responsibility. It's crap like this that puts big brother government in our lives.

Oh man, I'm closing this thread as there is a thread like this that is a bit more civil and is waiting on Justin's reply (or so privately).
