If you could run some tests and post the results for your laptop. I'm looking at getting the same config that you got and I want to know how it performs.

I ran a Superpi test on my rig. The 2M test completed within 41 secs. What specific test would you like to be run?

I want to know how framerates are on demanding games such as Bioshock on full res and full graphics. I'm a gamer and would like to know what this laptop is capable of with the Q6600 and the Dual 8700GT SLI.

Hi, guys I got my Sager NP9261 on Saturday and I am very happy with it but I am having trouble with WIndows Vista with there driver and its been running really slow. That is why I did not do any benchmarking with my spec. Does anyone know how to fix it? I install the 32 bit for windows vista should I try 64 bit would that help. I went back to Windows XP and its a lot better but I can't play my DX10 games. I am hoping that Nvidia comes out with an offical driver for the 8700GT SLI.

Strange... Are you sure you really installed the last drivers? Because otherwise it should be a problem that everybody has... the other member who just got his notebook didn't complain about it...

It sounds driver related to me. The first 9261's with SLI 8700s are starting to ship. Mine is help up at Sager because they said there's a driver related issue with 8700's in SLI and 4GB RAM.

You should run some benchmark to specify the degraded performance. Benchmark your current Vista 64 performance and your XP performance. Did you dual boot XP with Vista or is your previous Vista load gone?

fubarms, everytime I click on the picture to get a better view it brings up imageshack, but doesn't let me view the picture. I know you must've used imageshack to post the pic, but I can't click to enlarge it. Could you repost, because you have the same setup I'm looking to get and I really want to know how it performs.

    Thanks in advance!

    Xeon,

Actually is a 1000 away from one with a Go 7950GTX SLi. When I had mine with me I got 9096 using the E6700 CPU. Justin posted 3DMarks06 where it was shown a woopy score of +9500 with the Q6700.

Still waiting for mine to return.

Hay fubarms. I'm looking to buy the exact same laptop. Does it perform well at the native resolution even though the 8700M is just 128-bit? Could you post fps @ 1920x1200 for the games you play?

Hi coeniekok some game works at native 1920x1200 but other newer games lags I had to go down to 1280x1024 to play but its ok I wanted DX10. But I can't wait for the newer DX10 card to come out for this laptop. The only games that I play at native is like CS and that is pretty much it later this week I will past some pictures.

I'm really sorry to hear that, cos I don't have enough money to buy 8700M AND whichever new card equivalent to 8800... And I want DX10 too, but I also want performance. Can't wait for some (real world) benchmarks!
Maby I'll just wait 'till end of November and see if anything better hits the market. (so sad... so sad...)

I received my 9261 from Xotic last week. I'm very pleased with it. It took me a couple days to understand Vista 64. For the most part I have everything up and running on it. My computer is primarily an Engineering platform. I've already installed VM Ware and I'm running a number of additional operating systems as virtual machines. So far XP Pro and Fedora 7 -- I have plans for QNX Neutrino 4 as well.

    Here's some observations:

The lap to is BIG. It's well proportioned so you don't really notice how big it is from the pictures... but it's huge!

It's VERY quiet. I don't even notice the fans. It makes less noise than my Dell Inspiron 8100!

At the moment I can only run with a single 8700 because of the 4GB RAM conflict. I was surprised to see a single 8700 run Half Life 2 fine (at 1920x1200 with full eye candy). I can't wait to get the second 8700 up in SLI once the drivers are updated. A single 8700 scores just over 5000 in 3DMark06 with default settings.

I ran the Call of Juarez DX10 benchmark with FULL eye-candy and a SINGLE 8700 at 1920x1200. The DX10 shading is stunning. The frame rate averaged 7.5 according to the benchmark. That's pretty low but it's also a SINGLE 8700 at 1920x1200 (so what did you expect!).

I also tried oblivion but get a BSOD crash. I'm chalking that one up to display driver for the time being. I have all my oblivion patches and I uninstalled nero so I don't have many other ideas on fixing oblivion until a new driver is available.

The four cores rock, especially when running 2 other Virtual Machines at the same time. I tried to get WPrime but the website was down last week.

The screen is beautiful with no visible dead pixels.

The sound is awesome for a notebook. I'm very impressed with the 4 speaker sound quality.

There was some bloat-ware like nero but it was easily removed.

I also dig Vista a lot.

Well that's it for now. I'm eagerly awaiting a new driver so I can have 8700's in SLI AND the 4GB of RAM (which I need for work).

EDIT: I almost forgot, the battery runs at least an hour. I ran that long before getting a low battery warning. Not very long but still not horrible. I didn't buy a spare battery because of the difficulty in replacing it.

    Hi,

The issue around the 8700M GT SLi and 4GB affects only Vista or XP also?

I'm asking because I'm considering telling my supplier if mine could come from repair with a 8700M GT SLi instead with a go 7950 GTX SLi as it was before. The reason why is simple, future compatibility and more up to date driver.

By the way, any idea when this problem will be fixed?

    The problem is Vista-only.

And I think you should stick with the 7950, unless you REALLY need DX10 features right now.

7fps that is painful. Even with SLI enabled you wont get over 14fps. Time to crank those settings down (bye bye DX10)

There has been several reviews on this machine, there is no difference from the 9260 other that MB revision.

Benchmarks are meant to stress your machine. They'll usually tell you the lowest your framerate will probably go in the actual game---the World in Conflict benchmark, for example, averaged 15-20 fps on my friend's laptop, while the game proper rarely dropped below 40 fps on the same settings.

Still, you shouldn't expect to be playing everything at 1920x1200 with 2 x 8700m GT. It just can't churn out those high-res textures fast enough with a 128-bit bus.

So I guess what your saying is when you run a game benchmark you can expect to get at least double the performance with the same settings in actual game play. Wow that's very interesting, I would like to see some proof of this.
