I bought an Asus G1S last March mainly because it gave plenty of bang for the buck for games I wanted to play. However, with games like Fallout3, COD5:WAW, etc. my Asus G1S just isn't doing it anymore. So last night, after a couple of months researching on these forums, I purchased my first Sager. Here are the specs:
Sager NP9262
17" WUXGA "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1920x1200)
Intel Core 2 QUAD Q9550 2.83GHz w/ 12MB L2 Cache - 1333MHz FSB
nVidia GeForce 9800M GTX 1,024MB PCI-Express DDR3 DX10 (User Upgradeable)
4,096MB DDR2 800 (2 SODIMMS) Dual Channel Memory
2X Blue-Ray Read/8X DVDRW Super Multi Combo Drive
320GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache)
Internal 7-in-1 Card Reader (MS/MS Pro/MS Duo/MS Pro Duo/SD/Mini-SD/MMC/RS)
Internal Bluetooth + EDR
Built in 2.0 Megapixel Camera
Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audio
Sager 2 Year Parts & Labor Warranty + 30 Day NO Dead Pixel Warranty w/ Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Toll Free Customer Support
It all came down to $3148.00. I was iffy at first for making such a big purchase on this laptop not only because of the price, but because I had just bought a laptop last March. But I really doubt I will regret it.
In the future, I plan on purchasing another NVIDIA 9800GTX with 1gb so that I can run them in SLI(will research it first if it is worth it). I also plan on purchasing 2 more hard drives and additional ram if I decide to install 64bit Windows Vista. I didn't purchase it with the laptop because I figured I can get cheaper deals on Newegg.
The laptop was sent to my girlfriend's house. I am currently in Iraq and finally after a year, I'll be heading home in 2 weeks. Hopefully it will arrive at my girlfriend's house by the time I get back. I'm pretty sure there's plenty of reviews on the Sager NP9262, however I will post a review on it with good pictures as soon as I get it...well..probably not the day I get back. I have some business to attend to with my girlfriend.
Thanks all for the info on the Sager NP9262. I really feel good about this purchase.

Good luck with your new machine... I'm sure you'll love it!
SLI is a really big deal. I've played dozens and dozens of games, old and new, and SLI has worked perfectly on all of them, yielding from 50% to 100% FPS increase.
Have a safe trip home! -
the up coming clevo is still said to run a 9800m gtx so i see the gtx as still being around for a bit.
but...only a suggestion and not a what you have to do.... -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Welcome to the family.

Congrats on the notebook, i am also going to order one for gaming. also big congrats on comin home!
-
thats one itching with a capital B notebook! congrats!
-
Thanks all for the feedback.
That does sound like a good idea johnkiss but I didn't want to drop another $750 now on the laptop right now. If it's $850 that's fine with me. I don't plan on getting another 9800gtx to run SLI until later. Probably in a year or so.
The fact this is gonna run games ALOT better than my Asus G1S is good enough for me. And also the fact that I won't need to buy a laptop for a few years because of the user customization of this laptop. Thanks again. -
no problem
yes, that it will. (run better than your g1s) -
Welcome to the family. You won't be sorry.

Quick question all, this has been bugging me for awhile. I am new to Blu-ray, HD quality, and all that good stuff. Now, since I have a bluray player coming with this laptop, also with a 9800gtx which supports "High Definition", does it mean watching a blu ray dvd in my laptop will actually display its full potential of quality on my laptop? Because what has got me confused are laptops that come with 720p or 1080p screens? I'm not sure what exactly what that means and instead of using google I want actual posts from people with experience with this. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks all!
-
anything 1050 and up is considered 1080p and since you got a 1920x1200 screen, then you have 1200p
-
Johnksss always with the answers. Thanks man.
-
Big gratz to the OP on his purchase. I eagerly await a review. -
what part of considered do you see me stating as a fact? it's considered because that's the way lcds generally run. and running 1080p on a 1200p screen is a down grade. along with 1050p being allot closer than 720p.
yeah, you could have kept that small nit to your self. -
