I built a lapdesk for my x7200 because I spend most of my time with it on the couch. There's a couple 120mm fans in it, they're a little off center to try to optimize airflow to the x7200's fans. Works well, very comfortable, plenty of clearance for my legs.

no, i just use the arm of the couch, actually - i'm used to using it that way from years of that kind of use, so i didn't feel like i needed to add on the space for a mouse

If you can afford that laptop, why the heck do you have a TV from the 80s?

I don't watch a lot of TV.....we don't have cable. As long as I get some Judge Judy in I'm good to go.

This is the only 'nice thing' i'm getting for myself - post grad school I'm $70k in the hole for student loans, and before we up our standard of living we're going to knock them out - we're shooting to have them payed off in 6 months.

they're USB powered, but it can also be powered by AC (which I prefer).

Isn't Christmas great? This month marks the two year anniversary of me sponsoring a child of a coffee farmer in Ethiopia with $10 a month.

But a ~$2,600 desktop CPU/twin GPU notebook isn't really breaking the bank. It was a decent investment as it will last for a very long time to see the day those loans are paid off.
