    Morning forum users,

Last week I purchased myself a P150EM from mySN.

So far I am delighted with my machine but am victim of the dreaded 7970m/Enduro issues.

I am running the most recent 13.1 WHQL driver but am noticing extremely poor frames and GPU usage in Hitman Absolution.

    I have done a quick search but cant seem to find an answer to my question anywhere, maybe im not looking hard enough but;

"Is there any way atall, to disable Enduro on my machine and just make use of the 7970m?"

    Thanks in advance.

To answer your question: No, you are stuck with Enduro. However, have you tried adding the game's exe-file to run on high performance (not the shortcut but the actual exe-file)? With Starcraft 2 I always have to set the game's exe file on high performance when I boot the laptop. The setting does not stick and the game will run on integrated graphics otherwise.

Bugger. I was hoping there was some sort of modified BIOS that would disable Enduro completely.

I will check but I am sure I have added the EXE to the switchable graphics profile.

Its strange, I know the card is capable of running the game. During parts its running at 100FPS then all of a sudden it will plummet to low 20's.

Also I've noticed alot of people overclocking the 7970m safely. Will i notice much of a gain by doing so to say 1000/1500?

    no you wont.
one more thing, since you already said poor gpu usage, and Montage ask you to check if you are using igpu, i never tried but is there a possibility that intel hd4000 got the same under utilization issue?

If he is getting up to 100 fps it is safe to say he is not using the iGPU. So the problem is likely with Enduro or/and the game. The iGPU can't have the same underutilization issue (unless its a problem with the game). Also, in addition to SC2, DX3 also needs to be put to high performance after every boot. In fact I think that is the case with all my games, and for some reason the settings are not sticking (even though they appear on the list as being set to high performance).

I thought the better driver to run is the 13.2 beta. Does it make a difference between this one and 13.1 in regards to the utilization issues?

Optimus/enduro are hardware bound solutions that cannot be turned on or off in anything but an alienware which has specific chips to do it.

It's possible, but I believe at the moment, the BETA is really only for minor bugs in particular games and performance gains. You can look at it's revision history - I think it's currently on BETA 7. It won't hurt to try it.

Well the 7970M is remaining relevant for another year, since AMD wont be launching the next gen chip until very late this year or early next year so we will get continued development on these specific setups.

I do hope this is the case.

I have been an AMD customer for years and have always used their cards. Granted they are slow but they always have seemed to get there in the end.

It's weird that you have to set SC2 to high performance each time. I play the game often, and never have this problem. I think the only time I've had to set it to high performance again was after installing a newer driver.

As to the original post, perhaps you need to turn on v sync? If the game is running at 100fps, maybe your gpu temperature is getting too high and this is causing throttling and periodic low FPS?
