Not necessarily. Once Intel will officially release them on the market Clevo will use them, but as far as I know there will be the need of a new motherboard.

The Yorkfield Extreme Quad Core Processor (QX9650) was released by Intel in Nov07.

However, it can't be used in the Clevo D901C (Sager NP9262) because its power rating is 130W. The D901C only supports up to 95W.

I am waiting on the Q9450 and Q9550 Yorkfield Quad Core processors to be released by Intel. These are not Extreme editions like the QX9650. The Q9450 and Q9550 are 95W and *should* be compatible with the current Clevo D901C, but this has yet to be confirmed by Clevo or Sager. There may need to be a BIOS update or possibly a new motherboard.

I think I saw somewhere that Intel may release a Q9650 (ie non Extreme edition) that will be rated at 95W, but probably not until the 2nd half of 2008.

I really hope its not a new motherboard cause thats like a thousand bucks right there.

I hope the Q9550 comes out before the end of may, cause thats when I will order the 9262 or 63 since I dont know what kind of tech will come out by then.

I'm calm and not in denial. If you'd know you'd understand :).
About these new CPUs... XbitLabs tested this CPUs and they didn't got anything more than 90W power consumption.

So that means if I were to just stick one in lets say after I get it or upgrade then it would work. I'd say thats about 50/50
