I'll be ordering a m57ru most likely early next week. I know others have said the NC-1000 will fit a 17" but just hang over a bit and others went with the NC-2000 and there is room to spare. Will this make a significant difference in the cooling? I'd rather the smaller one hinestly just for ease of transport, but if it's going to make a big difference I'll deal with the 2000.

It would not to much a of difference really.

The NC2000 just makes the aesthetics perfect with no overhang.

but the NC1000 still fits fine, as shown with many owners of this cooler with the M570RU.

I don't much are about Aesthetics, I'm more concerned about lugging the thing around from place to place and having it fit in my case.

    thanks for the feedback.

NC-2000 is the better cooler, due to more venting holes, but in real life it shouldn't make any difference. Obviously people should prefer the newer stuff.

Seriously?? you got 5  What did you do with the rest....hehe ;) I thought NewEgg's shipping system was so advanced because of the barcode authorization thing that these mistakes weren't really possible...

My Zalman 2000 fits my Sager 5793 perfectly. I would spend a little extra and go for the slightly larger 2000...

I am using the nc1000 and it fits sorta ok.

I wouldn't say perfect because it's short one and half inches on either side.

but it seems to keep her cool

DO NOT get a Cooler Master NotePAL W1.

Its crap and will damage most 17" notebooks.

I put up the reasons why on this forums a number of times, find them and you will know why.

I got the ZM-NC 2000. My Sager NP5793 is a perfect match. No overlapping. Looks like made for the notebook. (I`ve got the silver version which fits just nicely the aluminium silver of the ZM).

I have not run tests yet, but my guess is approx. five degrees lower temps... Not much, but if it prolongs the life of my hardware its worth every penny imho...

The NC2000 fits the 5793 perfectly. :) The 5793 will hang over on the NC1000, and has a little room left over on the NC2000.

As Gophn has mentioned the front lip on the notepal can scratch up the front of your notebook. :(

anyway does np5793 really require a cooler since it has one heck of a cooling system already?

I didnt purchase a zalman nor use a cooling pad for my NP5793 it already has adequate cooling, its more of a "Do i want to hear my roaring internal fans" or let my whisper quiet zalman take care of the cooling thing. I opped for the first as i play with headsets on and it creates les bulk on the desk which makes things a bit better.

The other reason why i didnt opt for a cooling pad is this machine doesnt and will never reach the temps i got with my m15x which i did use a cooling pad for. It still wasnt a zalman had a notepal infinite.

Hey Gop, what cooler do you prefer is the best? The zalman seems to have the vents closer to the front of the computer so there is less air going to the vents in the back with most new laptops like dells 1530 and aw m15x. Does having less air vents (on the notebook cooler) near the back by the laptops vents affect the regulation of heat?

And also one last questions, should the tilt on the notebooks with it on the zalman cooler affect system performance? Heard some ppls m15x was downclocking when it was an angle.

And ifnally why does it have to be at an angle, why cant they use a flat zalman cooler? does it reduce more heat with the tilt?

    thanks

the tilt is best for airflow and ergonomics.

Of all the coolers that I have owned and tested, the Zalman stands alone as being the most sturdy and overall most efficient... for almost every notebook model.

But what about my other questions? Does the tilt cause the system to run weird? like I read in the m15x aw forum that it downclocked when it was on a tilt. They just released a new bios so ill double check on that

But does that tilt have any negitive affects on a laptop theoretically? And also does it matter that the vents of the zalman cooler is too much in the front that its not directly under the vents of certain notebooks like Dell's and alienware laptops that has their vents all the way in the back?

And finally, what other notebook cooler do you recommend that doesn't have a tilt to it?

Thanks for your input Gop, I'll be eneding to buy a cooler for my m15x

EDIT: Btw I see that your from Southern Cal, I'm a BIG USC Trojan fan ! OJ MAYO/Leinart/Bush/Booty/Davis/Mataluga!!

Does the NC2000 fit comfortably on a lap?
