My Zalman NC2000 came in friday, so I tested over the weekend.

FYI, these are before using the NC2000.

    (idle)

    ACPI:40-41c
    CPU1:33-34c
    CPU2:32-33c
    GPU:50-51c
    HD:51-52c
    Room:21c

    Temps after using zalman NC2000.

    (idle)

    ACPI:37-38c
    CPU1:30-31c
    CPU2:29-30c
    GPU:47-48c
    HD:46-47c
    Room:21c

My notebook stays on 24/7, so these temps are pretty accurate. I recommend this cooler to anyone wanting to lower temps, plus it runs very quiet at max setting. My HD & GPU temps are 4-5c lower now. Note the cooler was on max setting.

I agree. I also use the NC 2000 and my temps are 3-5 degrees lower than without. Its worth the 60 bucks imho.

Those who have NC2000, could you check if you're getting equal airflow from the left and the right? I thought this was due to the positions of the fans ( http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/xoxide/zalman-nc2000-2.jpg), but someone said he was getting equal airflow on all parts of the vents.

those temps are at idle.... what about when its at full load?

the Zalman shines in temp reduction during gaming sessions.

heh. this is funny to come up now. I was just looking into coolers. My choices are the NC2000 or the Ninja II. The NZXT looks way too big. You guys all recommend the NC2000?

the Zalman has shown itself to be very versatile for most to all notebooks. :)

i was also pondering about other notebook coolers too, but the Zalman NC2000 definately does the job and works well as a stand. I can feel the air coming out from both sides fairly equally...also it's so quiet, good piece of kit!

Yep. Love my Zalman(s). I have 2 of the NC2000s, one in my office, one on my desk at home. I concur with the 3-5C temp reductions across the board. VERY nice. It fits my np5793 perfectly, too, so the 5796 will be the same. Looks like it's made for it.

i get 5 C difference on idle... and about 10-13C degrees on full load during gaming sessions.

...and thats with the original NC1000

    I want a NC2000 now. :(

it should work just as well for the NP2092, can't see how the NC2000 will not perform.... it's the best cooler out there! :) The NP5793 fits on this cooler perfectly so the NP2092 should work a treat.

Zalman NC 2000 is an awesome cooler!!! :D
currently(while posting) my gpu temp is 46C (earlier it used to be like 50-51C)
While gaming it reaches 65-70C (earlier it used to be like 75C)!

    huge improvement i guess! :D

But i need to ask something frm u guys!
how do u position ur NP5793s on it??

I position it so, such that the GPU intake lies just above the vents!

but then, the front part of the notebook overhangs the cooler!!

and still, my HDD temps reach abt 60C while gaming!! :(

I need to figure out the perfect position for it on the cooler!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :)

On idle, my Hard Drive is always the hottest component of my laptop...

At the moment my NC2000 is on max - i leave it on max all the time anyway, GPU is at 40C and CPU at 37C. Hard drive is at 45C right now.

I just sit it so that the laptop is comfortable on it, i don't put it too far forward or too far back, there are pretty much air vents all over the cooler, so it should be fine sitting the laptop anyway you like on it, obviously i don't mean upside but you get what i mean. :)

    Hey thanks man! :)

I'll now keep it such that it covers whole of the cooler! (but that way the gpu nd cpu vents will be way up compared to the vents on the cooler! )

I'll try and analyze the temp difference b/w the 2 positions!
i hope the the position u specified is better! :)

    Thanks again! :)

btw the HDD temps have me worried quite a bit! :(
Have u noticed the right side of the touchpad become hot(warm--->--Hot) after the notebook has been on for quite some time??

indeed i have, im guessing it's fairly normal... as long as it doesn't go over 60 it should be fine, the area on the right of the touchpad always feels warm to the touch, but it hasn't bothered me too much as long as i'm aware of the temperature of the HDD, i mean it's at 45C right now, and still feels warm in that area of the notebook. I belive the operating temperature of the hard drive is up to 60C, my hard drive is a 160GB Seagate Momentus 7200.2.

I usually find my hard drive goes up to 56-58C at times whilst gaming, but it does drop, the cooler definately helps though, i'm sure your one is fine, just keep an eye on the temps. :)

So is anyone else getting uneven airflow from NC2000? It lowered my HDD idle temp by 3 - 5 C and GPU idle temp by 4 - 5 C, depending on the ambient temp. This is after I redirected the airflow to the right, since 5793 has little or no vents on the bottom left. Does this sound right, or do you think I got a defective unit?

    Thanks arenji!!! :D

It worked! the position u told me to keep the notebook in! it actually further lowered my HDD temps! 55-57C max!! :D

    Thanks agn! :) :D

@ ghostbear - i keep my notebook such that it covers whole of the cooler and no probs! everything running cool!!

Maybe u should check the cooler's fan speed! :p jk!

though there may not be vents on the left side but still the underside gets warm, the cooler should help cool that too!

try using it in an air conditioned room! :)
ambient temps here are abt 31-32C and the cooler aint much of a help then as the aluminum of the cooler is heated up itself!

In an air conditioned room the aluminium of the cooler becomes cold so it cools the air passing through it therefore lower temps! :)

Glad its worked out, i like your advice on using it in an air conditioned room :)

In UK it's not typical to have air conditioning systems in our homes, guess the weather is just not hot enough to require it... :p
