    im planning to replace my dead 7970m with another possibly 7970m , but i dont know much about thermal pads . can i use the old thermal pads on my old 7970m on the new one? or i need to buy new thermal pads? and do they need to be properly placed?

    So long as they are physically intact (not torn or flaky) then you can. Fresh pads of course are ideal.
