    my clevo temps are soaring uncontrollably at 99 utilization recently which wasnt the case 5 months ago where it wouldnt go any higher than 83c , can someone please post a video that shows how to open the p170em and remove the heatsink for the gpu so that i wont brick my laptop , i found a video for the p150em but no luck with p170em

    ive only got the 15" video and havnt seen one for the 17" yet.
    before you take off the heatsinks just get a can of compressed air and blow around the fans and vents as that should help with at least 5c lower temps. always hold the vent fins while blowing air into them though otherwise that could damage them.

    might also need new thermal paste on the cpu/gpu so that would mean having to take things apart.

    To be honest it's not been done since its so simple. Open the back panel of the machine and follow the same principles as a desktop heatsink.

    15 and 17 inch have the same layout and even motherboard design.

    Just follow that P150EM video that you found. It will be identical instructions to what it would be for yours.

    I have a p170em. The video posted above by DJ should do the trick.

    1) Clean your work area. I typically clear off a table and lay down a large white towel (so if any screws drop i can see them)
    2) Take your time and work gently. Mistakes happen when you rush.
    3) If you need to repaste, more is not always better. you want the thinnest possible layer of thermal paste between the chip and the heatsink.
