With any monitors dead/stuck pixels are possible. They are rare but can happen. There are over 6million sub pixels on that screen (1920x1080 x 3, Red, Green, Blue for each one) and for one of them to get stuck can and does happen. The best thing to do is to get a 0 dead pixel guaranteed so the screen is highly scrutinized and inspected for any. It seems stuck pixels are more common then dead pixels which sometimes can be fixed.

no, you should take it to mean that you don't need the warranty unless one stuck or dead pixel is a very serious defect to you. as hutsady points out, sometimes stuck pixels can be fixed.

the emboldened words are the only difference between those two displays. matte = less glare susceptibility; glossy = more glare susceptibility.
