    NP9280

    i7 975

Two 280s vs one = no-brainer for gaming

i7 vs T9600 = no brainer for data crunching

    What's your priority?

well i heard sli on notebooks is a pain in the and that the i7 + 280m almost = 280mx2 + t9600 just because its an i7 6.4gt 3.53 ghtz (with turbo)

    Core i7 with single GTX 280M has a 14-15k score on 3DMark06 ;)

but the comparison for notebooks should be:
    - Clevo M980NU (Sager 9850)
    VS.
    - Alienware M17x "refresh"

since they are both spec'ed the same (chipset, platform, and videocards)

Well, the i7 + 280M will look close to SLI performance in 3dmark06, but will still get smoked when it comes games that support SLI scaling.

I'm myself a fan of single GPU systems, and will never own an SLI/Crossfire configuration, but they are very powerful setups.

I recommend holding off on your decision until the M980NU joins the party, that way all of the options are on the table.

Well if you want a 17" "gaming rig" then the M17x is your system hands down.

If you want sheer processing power with less but still very capable gaming power then your system is the D900F hands down, as there is no laptop in the market right now that can compete with the D900F in terms of computational prowess.

Personally I'm going with the M17x, as I too want the best possible gaming prowess in a 17" form factor. Number crunching isn't as important to me at this point in time.

lol, I wouldn't be too embarrassed, the design is absolutely beautiful, the only thing I think you would have to worry about, is getting beat down and robbed for it, I don't think that would be too much of an issue with the ugly Clevo, unless they happened to see the Core i7 in the device manager, then... ;)

lmao. Depends on how much you like attention really...I can you tell at my university which is completely filled with Macs that one, having a PC laptop was reason enough to stare at my M17 but the Alienhead lid had people (including girls :p) doing doubletakes constantly. Occasionally people come up to you and ask about it. IDK, me I like attention so had no probs with it, if your a private person yet do alot of work in public maybe it is something to think about lol.

Ok, if you say so, to me it doesn't look like a spaceship, you can turns the lights completely off, and I'm not worried about people staring at me and yah.

Not if you live in the US, you can have an SLI system with dual 260M's for 2000.00, that's pretty affordable.. everywhere else though like here in Canada it is expensive.
