I was searching through a local reseller near my town, see how much my "old" laptop faired against new models.

    They charge roughly around 1800$ for a GeForce GT335,Core i5-540,4GB RAM,1000 GB HDD,DVD±RW,kamera,BT,W7 Home

I paid about 1900$ for my np8662 almost 2 years ago and it's still kicking even compared to recent models :)

    Q9200 (had dual core 2 T8800 before)
    Nvidia 260GTX
    4GB ram

Next time i'm buying a gaming laptop I'm gonna stick with sager and not some overpriced gizmo.

I imported the np8662 from germany, saved a couple of thousands compared buying it retail or alienware.

I live in europe, sweden so that explains the insane numbers (we pay a lot of tax).

You can buy a laptop over here in a local store with the following specs: GeForce GTX 460M,Core i5-460M,4GB RAM,500GB
    1950$

I can get a similar or better laptop and the best part is a lot cheaper just by importing :)

lol nice, i used to live in the states but now i moved to Dubai since a while and the same as you the laptop prices are really really high except that this isn't the government foult since we DONT pay any taxes here at ALL ^____^ but the problem is with the damn greedy Dealers T_T so i either call my family or my friends in the US and have them send what i want to here or buy it online and import it like now with the sager 8690 :)
oh and what about customs in sweden ??
btw sweden has the hottest chicks my eyes has ever saw ^_^

Well, I think you can get that same laptop for cheaper in other places (ebay etc). Not 100% sure, but I think so.

I price checked my M570ETU which I bought 2yrs ago, and it's only worth $1000 or so now.
    It has:
    - 3700m quadro
    - 4gb ram
    - QX9300
    - 80gb harddrive

EDIT: Just saw you lived in sweden, that explains it. Scandinavia in general is very expensive (I know, I live in norway myself)

My NP8662 is worth about $800 now. It's about 1.5 years old. If it weren't for my USB issues I'd probably keep it longer. Requires a $400 + labor motherboard replacement. I plan on getting a Sandy Bridge laptop as soon as something decent comes along, maybe a Sager again, 17" this time though.

I still have my NP2090 from 2007 roughly as my main computer. Original battery still works extremely well, Computer has held together.

In the market for my next one.

    I managed to get a m860tu for 400$ recently.
I'm not sure what I will do with them (I have a m570tu and another m860tu) because I know these laptops aren't worth a lot on ebay anymore.

I've always thought it would be awesome to actually have some consistent business selling gaming laptops locally. Maybe I'll give it a try :)

Is it a fully functional M860TU? Did you get it from eBay?

    Yep. 9800m gt and t9400

He started the auction at 500 and then marked it way down, I think there weren't too many people watching it.
And it ended at 1pm on a tuesay or something.

Having tons of free time pays off :D

Dang. I had been watching for one for a long time to fix my existing NP8662. Mainly need motherboard, but could have sold the other components off for probably about $400. That's a great deal you got. But I don't think those 9800m GT motherboards support quad core, which is what I have. If you find another and don't need it for yourself, if you can remember to let me know, that would be great. I'll buy it from you for $450 :D

Haha. Yea its rare to get part outs, its a shame you missed the motherboard mattmcss sold.

Someone used it to upgrade to a quad core I think. So actually whats more a shame is that the person probably didn't sell their old one and just has it sitting around, but is a really infrequent user.

Maybe it would be worth digging around to send him a PM.

If you get a new mother board I'll buy your slightly broken one :D

Well, I have a quad so need one that supports a quad. It's not pertinent, because once I go to buy my new machine, I'll just part out this one if I can't replace the motherboard. Otherwise I'd just sell the machine as a whole if it worked without issue.

Sager gaming laptops are definitely solid, top quality and long lasting. I am very tempted by the current sandybridge and particularly enticed by the GTX 485M but the fact is, my current W860CU with the GTX 285M and 1600 x 900 resolution handles every single game I play and still looks like new.

I play a lot of old games like BattleZone 2, Renegade and Command & Conquer 3 that I can completely max out so I really doubt I will be upgrading any time soon.

Edit: Who was I kidding :p

The increased CPU performance of Sandybridge, the improved battery life and the huge performance increase of the GTX 485M Vs my GTX 285M is just too much to resist for a techaddict like myself. I am already in the process of selling my W860CU in the UK and I am going to order a 17.3'' equipped with the GTX 485M and the default CPU.

Well you can always go for an Ivy Bridge about this time next year anyhow and who knows what GPU's will be out then too.

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Sager NP8170 with i7-2630 and GTX 485m. Stupid PayPal won't let me send an eCheck right now for some reason. So I will have to go to the bank and do a wire transfer now, which won't be a simple task.

My M860ETU is in excellent condition and still performs great, but I'm considering selling it and buying a P150HM or some other laptop with an inferior resolution.

how does it behave temperature and performance-wise?

Just responded to your PM. Basically vibration is less than the 500GB regular Momentus I used prior to this, temps no issue, and boot times much faster. Hard to measure other things, but overall a good performance drive.
