Hi everyone, I'm just new here.

Sadly there is another story of getting no refund from Kobalt Computers which is similar to what has stated on previous closed threads - I ordered a G890 system last year but canceled it before Christmas, and received confirmation to refund on December 18, 2010 as below:

" From: Kobalt Computers Sales ([email protected])
    Sent: Saturday, December 18, 2010 2:37:41 AM
    To: 'Msn' (n*****_****[email protected])

    Dear Joe

Please accept this e-mail as confirmation of your request to cancel your order from Kobalt Computers Ltd. Your order has been marked as closed in our order tracking system.

In accordance with Distance Selling Regulations and the purchase of goods from a website, we hereby confirm that a refund has been actioned and will be refunded to your credit / debit card that you originally paid for the order by. If you paid by bank transfer please e-mail us your bank details and we will set up a BACs refund to you.

Please note that although we are obliged to refund your order within 30 days (in accordance with the DSR) we always aim to ensure it is with you as quickly as possible but in some cases the transaction process may take this full period. Once we have received notification that your refund has been authorised by our merchant bank you will receive an e-mail confirming this.

For security reasons we are unable to change the method of payment of refund from your original payment method.

    Brgds

    "

On January I sent another email to track the refund and was offered a support ticket on their ticket system. And from there I did got a reply saying,

    " Wed, Jan 12 2011 1:29pm - Andrew Richards

    Joe,

Not sure what happened with the ticket being closed, sorry about that.

The refund was authorised by us on Friday last week so the funds will show up on your card in 5-10 days time.
    "

Everything seemed to be undertaken and I should have had refund for a long time. But as you might have already known what happened next, now it is already March and yet nothing has appeared on my credit card account.

I really don't want it to go public and tried to post a new thread on their forum Order Queries area but it popped up a "Precondition Failed" page. Then I sent an email yesterday and from where I only received a new support ticket but no one has responded so far.

I'm so frustrated. I did rang the credit card company and sent all the documents to declare a dispute, but they just progressed so slowly and I haven't got any further information for a week. Please forgive me for trying to use the forum power of nbr and seek help here, because I really don't know what else I can do to get my £1800 back... :(

kobalt staff, any of you see what im writing here, as i said before ive contacted my lawyer when i cancelled my order, and if this is the case you are giving me too, im going as far as i can!

    Hi Joeyz,

As per our conversation a moment ago I can confirm that the refund has been actioned today and I can only apologise as to why this wasnt done earlier.

    All the best

    Iker,

You have already been responded to by Neil in the other thread and personally on a number of occasions, your money has been refunded and your refund will in 3-5 days appear on your card.

Thanks Pete. Just confirm that I eventually received the PayPoint refund confirmation over an email. I didn't mean to go opposite but just trying to get the refund.

I thought anyone that worked for a reseller and was active on the boards had to have it listed on their info? I don't see Kobalt listed anywhere in your name/description.

Is this only an unofficial policy that others do as a courtesy?

His username is greyed out, so I guess that's an indication that he is a reseller rep. But, you're right. I think it is preferrable that there is an indication of which reseller is being represented.

Pretty sure Pman's newly appointed since 14th february iirc. Greyed out name means he's a reseller representative though he's using his personal title :p

I do think people have been harsh against kobalt for the past few months due to multiple problems happening to them. Luckily I don't exactly get much trouble with my order. Infact, Pman there just called me to confirm my shipping details :D I think they're finally back on track :)

Now that you mentioned it, I think I recall Kobalt mentioning in one of the other threads that they would be hiring new reps that might be familiar to NBR or something of the sort.

    Hi Guys

Thought I had better pop on again :)

I am the newly appointed Support and Production Manager at Kobalt Computers, alot of people here will know me of old as I was a member here (and a customer of kobalt) before I started working for them.

I started on the 14th of Feb :D

I let Charles know and he changed my standing here on NBR :)

Granted Kobalt have had issues in the past but I placed an order on the 11th of February and I got a tracking number today.

ETA was 02/03/11 but Andrew informed me last week that the graphics cards were out of stock until monday so I missed my ETA for a day.

Communication between me and Kobalt was great Andy B and Andrew were extremely helpfull.

I understand that others (those that ordered just before Xmas) had issues with missing ETAs, not enough communication, waiting on refunds but from what I can tell Kobalt are back on track.

I wouldn't mind becoming a Kobalt rep here. Want to break into the world of Clevo and also looking for a part time job. Anyways back on track, from what I have seen both here and in the Kobalt forums they do seem to be getting back on track. Some people have even begun receiving orders I hear. I don't think that people have been too hard on Kobalt, some have had pretty bad luck and their complaints are justified. But Kobalt are, like they say, a relatively small family run business that will run into issues when the big suppliers have problems namely nvidia with their 485m's and Intel with their Sandy Bridges. As long as things get sorted, people should be happy as Kobalt are the only decent Clevo resellers in the UK.

Congratulations on the appointment PMan. Hope to do business with Kobalt later in the year once the new Clevo models start shipping with the fixed SB processors and new GPUs.

As someone who initially reported a problem back in November, I've been keeping an eye on Kobalt's forums and I've got to say there haven't been any complaints appearing or being deleted or moved for that matter on their forums recently.

Couple that with recent appointment of a new member of staff and things seem to be turning a corner. If it keeps up like this till next year I'd certainly consider them again.

As a customer past and present I can see things improving which is great as we really need these types of company as without them enthusiasts have very few options.

It's not good to see them losing customers because of the challenges they faced last year. Let's hope 2011 is a good year for their customers and themselves.

Just to let everyone know that I received the laptop today. It got shipped from the UK yesterday and it arrived to Cyprus and my door sometime this afternoon.

I haven't turned it on yet because I still need to prepare the OCZ for retirement. (was planning to do it later today so as to prepare for the arrival tomorrow but fast shipping threw me)

    Fast shipping <3

Getting mine next week due to some delivery error (Rawr TNT) but oh well :3 More time for my to prepare my backups and spend my weekend gaming rather than spending so much time on transferring stuff and setting it up while having nothing to do ._.

Nice to see some good reports coming through :)

Was getting a little tired feeling like I'd get a load of complaints if I went into threads and pointed out there'd been problems but the guys were doing there best.
I still attest they've done a lot more for me than Alienware/Dell did (who have a huge amount more budget) even before Pman joined the ranks, and I can't help but think his enthusiasm and extra pair of hands will help them all the further.

hehe well glad to hear that it got to you safe!

Enjoy the machine, its a beast :D

Yeh wasnt too happy about that myself, think the guys at TNT got a red ear :p

Yeh things are very rapidly improving and that is evident from our customers being happy, getting laptops that they adore and generally grinning ear to ear when they see and use thier beasts :)

I am glad to hear things in Kobalt are improving. I am waiting for my G170 so hopefully when the new fixed SB motherboards are shipped, I won't be kept waiting for much longer.
