symptom: when my logitech usb mouse is connected to my 9262, it will not wake up from sleep, not even hard reboot. Have to open dvd drive and shut down/start computer to get the screen/keyboard/mouse to work.

    Hibernation works fine.

Searched the net and found that many have problems with this on various machines and OSes, esp. Vista 64 (what I am using) =>

temporary fix: disconnect USB mouse before putting computer to sleep

would prefer a more permanent fix ... anybody out there got any idea?

maybe a upgrade or patch is required from logitech's and microsoft's side.

I don't recall precisely what the issue is, nor the solution (hey, it's 11pm and I'm bushed :D ); but there are definitely issues with the P965 chipset and USB devices - I don't think the issue relates to the OS you're using. If you care to do a little light bed-time reading  check out the spec and errata data-sheets for the P965 chipset (which can be had for free as pdfs off the Intel website). On that basis, I would check for an update to your chipset, possibly from the Intel website, to see if that helps any.

EDIT: More specifically, I think the problem was limited to USB devices - like mice - that were supposed to be able to wake the system up from hibernate and/or sleep - something about a particular signal that needed to be sent in order to prime the system to be woken via the USB device, but that signal didn't get sent before the system went into sleep, so you ended up with a deadlock where a particular signal needed to be sent before the system could be woken out of sleep, but the signal couldn't be sent because the system went to sleep before sending it.

Thus, another work-around might be to poke around in the BIOS setup page or in the OS options and see if you can disable the ability of the mouse to wake the system up - of course, that'll mean that you can't bring the system up by just wiggling the mouse, but it might solve the problem you're having right now.

A user here had an issue with his 9262 not powering up when his USB ipod was plugged in...dunno if he ever fixed it though.

Maybe it could be a problem of interruption table..
If your mouse overwrites the interruption table of your sleep mode you can't catch the end sleep mode interruption..
Perhaps you should try to change these settings..

Sorry if I say a silly thing ^^.

Update in case this happens to someone else:

Sager support suggested checking memory and video card. When I opened the compartment the top memory chip didnt seem to be all the way in. I reseated it, and since then have been able to boot my system from sleep.

Hope it stays this way. Awesome system. Now I can wait for Nehalem ...

Thanks for letting us know "the rest of the story."

However, I hope you're not counting on being able to upgrade the processor with a Nehalem CPU - the Nehalem architecture no longer uses the FSB, and so is not likely to be compatible with the current chipsets, all of which are FSB-based.
