reize, ejl, if you're around, either of you ever heard of eruocom? i was poking around on cnet and i read a review about their new 19" notebook. when i went to their site, i found a 17" that prices competitively with the m90 [$2400].
i've talked to some friends who seem to think that dell uses junk parts and i'd be better off with a boutique manufacturer. they suggested voodoo, but i don't have $4k.

but this eurocom, the M570A DIVINE has the following:

    EUROCOM M570A; 17-inch; WXGA 1440-by-900 pixels; Widescreen
256MB GDDR3; Nvidia GeForce Go 7800GTX; 400e/500m; 16x PCI Express; Upgradeable VGA Module
    IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® M Processor 750; 1.86 GHz; FSB533; 2 MB cache; uFCPGA478
    1GB; 1x 1GB; DDR2-533; 200pin; PC4200; 1 SODIMM
    60GB; 7,200rpm; 2.5-inch; IDE/ATA; 8MB cache

if i remember correctly, you are not much of a gamer, right? you have to take into consideration that this is built for gaming, not business applications. it will not have the sturdy build of dell business lines. however, it is a very good and powerful system. either way, it will not have 64-bit capability. if you wait a month or two, the one you were looking at will be revamped with core duos.

i did not tell you about this machine before b/c you aren't a gamer, but there is the sager 9750. it is also has the 7800gtx. in addition, it has the desktop cpu athlon x2, which is 64-bit and dual core (the notebook turion x2 is what is coming out in may).

no you're right, im not a gamer. more CAD, graphics, 3D modeling...i guess im just worried about dell. i've had horrible experiences with them and while the m90 may have the business build quality, people tell me their parts are junk. i wouldn't know how to go about evaluating that and i realize i may be filling my head with bad info from dell haters, but it makes me wonder....
