last night I checked out the custom gaming laptops - Welcome to Sager Notebooks and shocked for the prices compared to alienware! $400 price difference for both laptops w/ same specs (and 8GB standard in sager) $400? I could use that for future upgrades and games![]()
now here's the question! I've seen many observations on sager's customer service, they can be freaking dodgy! for instance I heard sometimes they just won't fix the thing for you if you missed with the software and MIGHT fix it if you pay even under the warranty! they won't sell me a motherboard so I can fix it myself![]()
also I googled a lot for a site that sells the spare parts of the p170hm, no dice! not even rjtech! so basically, if the warranty ends and the motherboard crapped out afterward, I'm screwed![]()
so I'm creating a poll here to find out if you're satisfied with their support! to see if it worth cutting the cost or just go with alienware where a lot better support from what I've heard..
thanks in advance![]()

You never EVER buy from SAGER directly, you buy from reseller like MALIBAL, Xoticpc, Powernotebook, Mythlogic, LPC-Digital, gentechPC, and many others.
They have good support and you deal with them not Sager. From what I read Sager customer service and support is as bad as Alienware/dell customer support. And yes Sager is the #1 brand gaming notebook, with Alienware falling short especially in comparable model in all model!
Please I hope I help you, don't make a mistake you will regret. Oh btw Reseller price are always cheaper than from Sager directly
Why deal with big company that don't really care about you? These reseller sell Sager laptop for a reason, they know you and most give free shipping and no tax as well. If you buy from Sager and you live in California, your paying tax. -
that was the quickest helpful reply!
thanks, though I doubt resellers like xotic pc are cheaper, but I'll keep searching! -
They do pricematch, and they have rampromotion, free shipping, and no tax. Did I mention NO tax?
-
Yes, most people here purchase from a reseller since you will get much better customer service, lower prices / better deals i.e. free shipping - and extended labor warranties at no additional cost. Plus, California customers have to pay sales tax if they purchase from Sager, but not if they purchase from a reseller.
Here is a list of the top resellers: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...eller-info-read-before-posting.html#resellers -
the only laptop built on clevo and has a AMD GPU is the prostar! all the other resellers only provide the P170hm with nvidia cards!
guess I should do a research about their support! -
You don't like Nvidia card? I'm the opposite, I feel that while they may be overprice, they have good driver support and good game support and isn't that ultimately what it come down to?
-
I know nvidia cards are generally better support! but amd are just cheaper by $300 than 580m and happy with my current desktop 6950
so I know I can't go wrong with them
-
im completely happy with my resllers customer service, but what ive read around the forums is that sager doesnt offer great customer service. also some resellers dont outsource their support so that is a plus if a language barrier is an issue.
-
I am also very pleased with my customer service from my reseller, specifically Malibal.
Can't agree more. -
In that case you got to wait for the 6990m which is TBA on Sager Notebook. It will be here in August just no ETA at the moment.
It is better and close to $400 dollars cheaper or more I believe. But you gotta wait! -
just talked to xoticpc! their chat system today was acting up for some reason!
they're now currently testing the 6990M on the P170hm! -
Really? I just talk to Justin by email, he said there are no estimate time. Wow, what about the P150hm?
-
I didn't ask him! but I'm very certain they're doing the same thing now! I mean technically they're the same just the screen size, or are they?
-
Same thing really beside the power brick, screen, 3D, and duel hard drive. You can't really go wrong with either one.
are you happy with sager customer service?
