Anyway, I received my new back-lit keyboard from MYSN and replaced it with my old broken one straight away. Everything worked fine except for the back-lit part Now, its not the end of the world of course; I can live without it...but it was a feature I always liked. So...does anyone know why it's not working? Did I connect something wrong or do I have to do something like have it recognize a new keyboard or something (sorry am terrible with pcs)? I have the back-lit control centre but it just wont switch on. Are there possibly any drivers I may need?

    Thanks!

you have tried keys Fn and (/ key above number 8 and next to Num Lk) to access the light software.

the back lite will be set to off. you need to use the above shortcut keys to access the backlit software and then you can set the lights how you like.

which laptop have you got? there is driver software but i guess that should still be loaded if youve only replaced the keyboard.

    edit

have you got 2 user names? naughty Z :D

They sent you a new keyboard without testing the backlight :/

But yes the cable as above is the most likely reason.

No it does not, sounds like when they replaced the keyboard they forgot to attach the LED cable.

I did not mean it. Two times I've seen the ribbon inserted into the top instead of the bottom of the slot and once the ribbon upside down.
    That's why I asked for a photo. :)

Ah one more tiny problem (lol). The tab button is a bit glitchy. I need to hold it down quite hard for it to work. Dunno if that's a further issue of me connecting something in the wrong way or something. Other than that everything works fine.
