i have been waiting for 3 months for better deals on the np8660 with 9800m gts.

the laptop is basically the SAME as three months ago! and I will be needing to buy a laptop within about a month.

would the price drop or better graphics cards show up?
i would like a sager because i heard good things, and i like the price, but im afraid of the resale value.

any suggestions on what i should do or wait is welcome!
    thanks

Wait as long as you can wait. After that, buy the laptop you want and can get at that point in time.

The reason the laptop has been the same all these months is because its the best 15" out there and there is no reason right now for it to change.

However, if new graphics cards and cpus are coming out for the m860tu, then you can always upgrade the laptop. With a warranty from pcmicroworks.com, you can return the old part and just pay the difference on the upgrade.

The price has dropped like $300-$400 since I got mine in August '08. You're dreaming if you think it'll go down any lower.

There's already been the Holiday Sale and now it's become a price drop. When it was released, the initial price was about $1700. Now it's at $1400. You should always wait since there's always something better coming. But I don't expect something new until the second half of 2009.

np8660 = Edge on pcmw. They currently have a 15% off sale going on. But their prices have a higher starting value, so when you take that %15 off, it should come out relatively close to other resellers out there. In general, I never hear bad things about xoticPC. No experience with them myself though.

Its called the EDGE at Pcmicroworks.com

The computer in itself is upgradeable. What I'm saying is that PCMW has a unique warranty that allows you to send back components that you purchased with the laptop and upgrade for only the cost of the difference between the components.

So its like if I wanted the T9800 and its retailing for $600 US, I can send back my P9500 and it would be considerably cheaper now for me to get the T9800 and I'm also in a position not to worry about having to sell the P9500 on ebay or NBR.

I'm in no rush to get one; may wait six months or more for a good deal. It all depends when you want it by.

i'm thinking about waiting until there's a mobile video card that can compete with the desktop 8800 GT 512 mb.... right now, the 9800M GTX is too expensive for something that performs less than a 2 generation old desktop video card

The 9800M GTX is on par with the desktop 8800 GT, but as you pointed out it is very expensive.

There's unlikely to be another price drop within your time-frame (one month); any further price drops, if they happen at all, are not likely to come until the middle or end of the summer, as Clevo gets ready to release for sale the new products it will be demo-ing at CeBIT a little later this year.
