what the title said. benchmarks/3dmark06 would be good for comparison
-
depends on the game. overall, 179.28 from nvidia, dox' 180.48.1 or dox' 185.20. the latter both from laptopvideo2go.
EDIT: just fyi, benchmark performance does not equal gaming performance. -
its 179.48 not 179.28 from Nvidia. Just Clearing that up in case of confusion.
I get like 9450ish on stocks with that driver. But I'm Oc'd atm so can't give a firm number. I've never used the the laptopvideo2go stuff as those are just basically hacked desktop drivers and I'm more conservative than most with my experimentation. -
im looking specifically for the new game empires total war

I'm running 179.48 from nvidia's site with Total War and it's probably the best right now - I mean new game, new drivers unless your laptop is outdated or the drivers have bugs. I stopped grabbing anything from laptopvideo2go because I had major problems running ones a few months ago (dropped to vga mode, drivers weren't recognized, etc, odd!). I'm happy with nvidia's support (finally!) for notebook cards at the moment.
New drivers will probably come out soon, possibly just because of this game, however -
im on 179.28 which upped my 3dmark06 score by 110 to 9359
ive read theres not a lot of difference except a few people have mentioned higher temps with 179.48 -
I'm using 179.28 notebook driver from nvidia as well with my 9800m gtx in sli and i managed to scramble a score at 14k for 3dmark06. Any1 here have recommendation of better drivers for 9800m gtx sli?.

There is no such thing as the "best driver". It varies game to game. For example, driver A gives you 5fps boost above average in crysis, but can also net you down 10fps in Far cry 2. On top of that, good scores in 3dmark does not necessarily mean good gaming performance.

Ok got it, thanks for the info though.

I'm liking 181.20 from laptopvideo2go.com and 182.05
best driver for 9800mgt
