Hi guys. I just registered to ask for help about this dizzy thing

Yesterday, I bought GTX-970m for P370em, and it worked great.

However, I want to sell my previous GPU, Ati 7970m gddr5 2gb

and there is someone who wants to buy mine. But the problem is that

he has a laptop clevo P170hm, which means that I have to modify the bios of 7970m

But,As I searches some forums to figure out the solution.,

Only i can see there are method of blind flashing, which can be operated in P1xxhm

    The question is

    1. How can I modify the bios of 7970m in my current laptop P370em (Nonenduro)

    2. Where can i find the adequate modified bios of non-enduro 7970m for P170hm

    3. Is it possible to flash the bios in Window with single 7970m cpu?

(cuz, some people told me that ,in 1st slot, i have to put the 970m, and in 2nd slot, put 7970m

and flash it blah blah blah)

I am worried about makine it a brick :-(

    Please help me Professionals!!!!!!

    Thanks for your reply jaybee!

I already flash the bios on my p370em.

With the help of your post and our korean forum, i already did it. But i am not sure it is really operated in p1xxhm model.

Bcuz when i flash the modified bios (not yours, from our Korean cafe), i saw the model is changed from p370em to p270xx(i am not sure but definitely not p1xxhm) and the bios version also changed 003 into 008.

Do you think that the modified bios for p1xxhm is applied?

it should be the same vbios version linked in my blind-flashing thread, since i remember the source of that vbios being a P270 machine :)

OMG it means i did it!

Hurray! Thanks Jaybee! And the last question is, before I modify the bios, i back up my original 003 version, and i am not sure that is it possible to reflash my orginal bios to the 008 version?

Bcuz some of people warn that downgrade (i think 008 to 003 is downgrading) may cause the gpu to be bricked..

Futhermore, Can this modified 7970m be equipped to another clevo model? I mean, p170em, p370em, p150em etc.

your fast reply makes me spend a good night ;-) thanks again!!

well the 7970M still works in your system, correct? it still gives you an image output on the display and u can use it regularly? or did u just leave it in the second gpu slot with the 970M active? in any case, i would check the 7970M functionality in ur system before sending it off ;) just to make sure its not bricked. aside from that, i dont see any reason why u wouldnt be able to reflash the 008 vbios, as long as your laptop is recognizing the 7970M in the second gpu slot correctly...

as for laptop compatibility....well, u can of course check the P370EM urself, since uve got that machine right there in front of you ;) im not sure about the P150EM and P170EM though, since theyre enduro-based systems...

Yeah, i can enter into the bios settings and i can see the image on the display.

But one thing is that i cannot enter into the window bcuz to setup the 970m, i have to install the window8.1 uefi version.

Unfortunately, when i try to boot the uefi mode with 7970m gpu,

    It is so-called BRICKED!

Thus, i reset the cmos setup by unplugging that small circle battery. And it showed the image again and i can get into the cmos setup again, but i cannot go into window without non uefi.

The reason why it should be bricked under the uefi setting is, i think, p1xxhm model didnt support the uefi mode.. Am i right?

But i think it is okay that i can see the video card with modified version in the bios setup. :)

yes thats correct, the older vbios might not be uefi-compatible :) but as long as u get an image output with the 7970M as the active gpu in your system, you should be golden ;)

I am the chosen one haha!

Thanks dude! Without your amazing post about blind flashing, i cannot do this.

It is really helpful for me to understand some kind of principles about how to flash the vbios.

Thanks again! And have a nice day!
