Here are the problems, my laptop will not turn off even when pushing the power button for 10 seconds. I had to pull the battery but when battery is put back in and I turn it on then same problem either power cord or battery doesn't matter. Also the screen is black as well and the HDD light is solid on all the time too. I have tried to reset all of this by pulling the RTC battery and the HDD drive but still same problems. I pulled the main battery and held power button for 30 seconds but still same problems. Once again the problems are black screen, power will not turn off via power button and HDD led always solid. I am thinking at this point that the motherboard/CPU has went bad...any suggestions?

The problem isn't with the CPU in my opinion, sounds like a bad motherboard to me.

Take your hard drives out and turn on the computer. If you're able to get to the bios, try to turn it off by the power button.

yep, id recommend the same steps: take out all hard drives, disconnect battery, power cord, take out bios battery. when everything is out, press and hold the power button for 30-40 seconds, then put the bios battery back in, leave the hdds out and try switching it on with eiher power cord and/or battery connected. if u cant at least get to the bios u can rule out the hdds and its one of four things: cpu, ram, motherboard or gpu. u could try and see if any one of ur ram sticks would work in order to rule out the ram (since its unlikely that all ur sticks are bad).
if that doesnt work, i would definitely rma it in case ure still under warranty.

well thats a problem then, since u cant be sure which component is the bad one and just replace it urself. you could still contact the vendor u got ur machine from and ask them how much it would cost for them to determine the faulty part of the machine. then u could at least get the replacement urself and install it (if u feel up to it, that is). otherwise u could just ask them to repair it for u, depending on the part it could still be way cheaper than getting a whole new machine.

I didn't realize I did, but it seems you all know what your talking about though. :hi2:

Looks like the MB or CPU which was what I was afraid of.
