I think you should do whatever you want. It's not like we can predict what's to come in the future nor anything about you. Nothing.

Depends, for the most part, the 8662 will be able to play games many years to come, just not at the best settings. If you wait 2 years, you can buy a laptop that will be able to play again, for many years, play games to come, just not at optimal settings. And 2 years from that time, 4 years into the future, you can buy a laptop and etc etc. It really depends on how content you are with your current laptop. Its a huge mistake if your content to shell out the cash to buy a new one and not be satisfied with the performance increase.

No one here can answer that question for you, that's why you're getting so much sarcasm.

When it comes down to it, we're not here to tell you how to spend your money... If you want to upgrade, upgrade. If you don't want to, obviously in 1-2 years technology will advance and there will be much better options if you can wait.

If you're happy with your setup, why upgrade. If you can wait 1-2 years, why upgrade? That's my opinion. Now do whatever you want with your own money.

If you are able to wait, i say go for it. i7's are just around the corner, and lets face it, nothing will be better then the i7 in terms of gaming. You get the speed of core 2 duo, but the 4 cores of quad core. I'm fairly certain games won't be coming out for a long while that will be able to fully ultilize an i7. And you never know, maybe they'll come out with an i8 (for the eight cores that it'll use).

    You said it best.
Look everyone want's the latest and greatest tech but the thing every individual has to figure out is the price/performance ratio worth it.

Currently Intel and nVidia are about to release their new products ( Q4 09 / Q1 10 ) . So if you dont want to wait a few months and get the latest C2D(C2Q)/280M laptop then go ahead . If it is going to be clevo chances are you would be able to upgrade it when the new platform comes .

Or you could wait a little , get your supercharger and then start saving for a laptop .

Buy now, enjoy now, don't worry about what is coming in the future. I am too busy enjoying all of the gaming on my NP8662 to care about the next best thing.

While I am having a laugh in GTA IV throwing grenades out of moving vehicles or launching missiles at helicopters I don't suddenly stop and think ''damn I wish I waited''. We will enjoy less if we always wait for the next best thing. The only exceptions I will make is if I know for sure that the next best thing is very close.

For example, I originally planned to order an NP8660 but waited because I knew the NP8662 would be out in a very short time.

A better question might be when was the NP8660 and NP8662 released and when might the next version come out? What new features would be included that you can't live without and must wait for? If it's really far off go ahead and buy it now.

I can't tell you what to do, but I can tell you how I make that decision. If every application/game I want to run runs OK on my old computer I stick with it. If some very desirable application/game comes along that won't run on my old computer I get a new one.

I realize that strategy isn't much fun, but it saves a lot of money.

It might be worthwhile to wait if some new stuff was already annouced to come out, but take also into account that new stuff will also come slow to the buyers.
