I started noticing it today. Its coming somewhere from the inside, hard to tell where exactly.
What I tried:
- its definetely NOT the screen
- removed the battery, the noise is still there
- ran it only on battery, again the noise is present
- checked if the plastic cover on the SSD was causing it (I thought it might vibrate), but that was not it
- checked if the HDD was causing it - negative. Turned off HDD completely and buzzing continues.
- definetely not the fan (there is only 1 fan in W370ET)
- definetely not the speakers
Its annoying as hell and comes from the inside. I hope it doesent fry anything, as it sounds like something coming from a shortage. Buzzzzz....(it varies in both volume and intensity).
Laptop is running as it should, temps are normal.
Im out of ideas.
Help?

Okay, seriously; If it's not a motor from a fan or the hard drive, e.g. it's not a "moving part", then I'm stumped. Usually electrical noises are solid "hums", not a "buzz", per se. You can try testing the electrical components with a volt-ohm meter, or see if system info software/BIOS gives you any unusual readings on voltages.
How are you certain it's not a fan or motor? -

I actually felt a bit ill looking at that picture
Is this buzz reliant on the loading of the GPU or CPU (or both) because that would point to motherboard power circuitry. -
My P150HM does this (and so did two others I had).
Mine all did it based on the following:
When HEAVY WiFi usage, I heard it.
When HEAVY GPU usage, I heard it.
At idle I can faintly hear it.
Sometimes scrolling up and down pages fast when bright colors present I hear it, even if GPU is running in 2d mode.
Running on battery is more loud for me. During game, don't hear it over the jet fans anyway.
But that said it is normal depending how loud it is. It sucks to say it and some people don't have the issue but it's really a quality thing.
Now it MAY be possible this is not the case for you but it was on 3 NP8150's I had all from different times so different batches etc.
Good luck though. -
This morning, the buzzing sound is gone.
I carried the laptop yesterday in my backpack (should be water resistant) and it was snowing.
Maybe some condensed liquid from the temperature differences outside and in the house was causing it....Im not sure.
Btw, I made a laptop stand out of thick foam and cardboard, lol! It elevates the laptop about 5cm and is "U-shaped", leaving the back side to vent off.
The foam looks 90% like this:
I had to install some thicker pieces for the back side to avoid a tilt when I open the display. -

If the buzzing stays gone or comes back, it could be that something was loose or jostled. What? No way to know without reseating things. Glad to know that it resolved itself, though! -
