Malibal will come and answer but I suspect not. Its a law and customs thing and if they get caught it would be bad for them and not worth the risk on an item that priced that large.

This is just a geuss really, slightly curious myself to be honest. Just dont expect them to.

Dostro is correct - we cannot do this. We must include a commercial invoice with the shipment that is used to determine the tax, which I believe is 20% in the UK.

This was a killer for me back when I got my Asus g73JH on release. Over in the UK it was around 3 grand for one so it was a no go area as I was a student.

I found a way around it though only if the seller is happy to do it and I think you would probably need to speak to them privately instead of on a forum ;) and it would be their decision at the end of the day because the tax man is an evil evil man.

I got mine delivered to a private delivery company in the US so that they completed their part of the deal and it wouldn't effect them if the tax man came knocking. I then paid for the private delivery company to forward me the package telling them it was a gift and how much it was worth and they marked it and sent it over to me.

It arrived and went through customs and I only paid £20 to pick it up :)

It is always risky though because if you get caught UK customs can fine you on top of the 20%. I bought my Clevo/Sager custom made through the UK version of the like of Malibal, PC Specialist. I was very impessed with the service and offerings and they even do special deals, you will pay more but I only had to repaste the thermal compound as this was applied similiar to how Asus do it, lazily. I had the latest model in the UK for a lot less than you will pay for any Asus or Alienware setup over here. Mine was built and despatched in only 5 days.

Here was my setup and price:

Why didn't you ask them directly? This kind of questions should be asked only via PM.

    welcome to rip of britain.
comparing a game from a person to a computer from a company are 2 totally different things. these 2 people you mention broke the law, plain and simple.

to help you understand read this > HM Revenue & Customs: Customs Duty, Excise Duty and Import VAT: introduction

Legitimate business won't because it is indeed against the law. Games are easier to sneak past customs since the cost is much smaller and the volume is also much smaller. Some game sellers aren't registered also which makes it much easier.

If you have run a business before, you should know that, if an order goes missing (or "gifted") without a commercial invoice and receiving appropriate taxes / fees, your accountant will question this.

I misread, I thought you said you were shipping to the UK. The UK has a 20% VAT. I think in Sri Lanka, it might be around 12%. You have to pay this regardless of which shipping service you use.

I know you are basically a kid but come on -- are you really asking this question? Countries have all kinds of international agreements and conventions to facilitate commerce and trade -- one of these is to respect and abide by the laws of the land. It is a violation of law to attempt to circumvent the trade laws of a nation. As a private citizen the penalty is less severe -- as a commercial entity the penalty and consequences are considerable. You can loose your export license (or import license) and be subject to audits and all kinds of headaches. You don't even know the half of it....

The bottom line is pretty simple. You gotta pay to play. If you don't have the dosh then you are SOL. Save more money -- spend less night's on the . And remeber that things like the VAT actually pay for your healthcare and your university education -- and the dole --- and every other manner of service in the country you live in. YOu want free health care? You pay more tax and some stuff costs more.

The flip side? try living in the USA as a student. What do you think they pay for both university and health care? (if they can even afford it). Getting cheap laptops vs healthcare -- well you should feel pretty lucky. I'd take healthcare....

What I don't understand is why you don't just buy it from a company that's already in your country. It's easier to get, easier to send back for warranty stuff, and you don't need to pay import taxes.

Probably because resellers in the UK have to pay the taxes when they import...and those costs are passed on to consumers. I doubt any UK reseller can sell as cheaply to Brits as can Malibal to Americans. The OP is hoping to buy from the cheapest source and avoid paying the taxes that make it more expensive to purchase locally.

Quick answer - the larger the business, the less likely they are willing to do this. A private individual, or a guy selling the odd cable on Ebay - they might...a company that could face fraud charges if they actively misrepresent goods shipped internationally in order to try defraud foreign governments of their legal taxes - isn't likely to see it as worth the risk.
