Invest 30 dollars in a USB sound card because from all I've read -and experienced- the quality of the sound produced is unworthy of getting a 7.1 headset for it.

    dont think so.
plug in green to headphones for front and sub speaker and black into mic and click speakers out for rear speakers.

    P170EM can do 7.1, FL/FR to stereo jack, CEN/SUB to mic-in jack, SL/SR to S/PDIF jack, RL/RR to Line-in jack.

Unworthy if not tweaked, worthy after tweaked. There's a lot to do other than just plugging the jacks in :D.

Yes and a message should pop up for each jack (except stereo) and ask you what do you want to use the jack as.
