Untitled.png So I recently found a 680m on ebay for about $200 which is the best ive seen since its launch, and yeah its an old system now, but I dont need super fast as of yet and for $200 its a great upgrade. I already listed my 485m up on ebay which seem to be going for slightly more than what i got the 680m for anyways. so a couple questions, is the 680m the fastest card I can put in my p150hm and what would make more current cards incompatible?

Secondly, I fired up bf3 and im getting at least double the fps and no issues at all. however I just got fallout 4 and Even on the lowest settings and the gpu running at about 60c Im getting bad artifacts in certain parts of the game.

When I installed the card I repasted both the cpu and gpu with diamond paste, and I also increased the ram to 16gb with a 4gb stick of ram(pacific something or other). any idea what would cause the triangle issue?

Third Is there a workaround for the hibernation issue, or the driver workaround so i dont have to mod the inf every time?

    Thanks!

Did you try an older driver yet?

In regards to the driver, you have to mod the .inf every time (I did it for 4 years, not that annoying, you get used to it). You could try using laptopvideo2go drivers that supposedly have an .inf that includes all drivers, but it didn't work in my case, so mod it yourself and enjoy your card :)

I have been debating getting the 680m, I installed a eluktronics 500gb ssd and 16gb memory, it is a Malibal P150HMx, I don't do anything too graphic intensive though have a 460m that gets hot, the newer cards run cooler? And how hard is it to change?

If its just about heat I would not worry, just clean out the heatsinks and re-paste using IC diamond.

Yup, this does wonders. Also make sure there's nothing directly behind your notebook, preventing the air to flow. As for the thermal paste, IC diamond is great, but other thermal pastes are fine too, the difference is small if they are applied correctly. I guess your existing thermal paste dried out and doesn't conduct heat as well as before.

You can look at the pads but if they look intact then I would just leave them. It's easy to get the pads wrong.
