hey i can't decide where to order my m570ru, because i want to order at xotic, but i dont want the customs to catch it. its an ideal deal for me because the dollar is standing low compared to the euro... if i order here i'm losing much more money...

You still get taxed, or so I think. You could ask someone at the local customs.

www.laptops4u.nl has them as well :)

also, keep in mind the warranty: IF anything happens, you'll have to pay to ship it back to the US
Of course: the lower the $ goes, the more interesting it gets to buy over there :)
Soon, you can buy the laptop there + book a trip to the US and back to collect it yourself :D ... for the same price you pay for just the notebook over here in the EU :)

    Great pricing, thank you.
Kwakkel there is only one problem with buying it from the EU: you don't get international warranty. You still have to send it for repairs.
If you know any other shops, please post them here. Hopefully that guide will be updated with new European resellers. Any reseller we don't know about that has the D901C?

For most EU-based people, that isn't really an important issue :)
If you're most of your time in the EU, buy it here.
If you spend most of your days in the US, get it over there.
If you're on a 3week vacation, and you brought along your notebook, you're better off returning it once you get home IMO :)
If you're in the middle of nowhere (cause you're in the army or so): THEN you have a problem :p

    Expensive...
    Any place you can customize?
Kwakkel if you'll send it in the US you will have to pay for shipping. If you'll send in the EU you will have to pay for shipping. US resellers I believe they pay for shipping it back to you. I'm not sure about EU resellers.
I'd like a place where I can get EU pick up & return (warranty). Is that too much to ask for?
Anyway, I see that playing with configurations on that site gives you a decent price.

www.laptops4u.nl allows for a certain degree of customazation(?)
you can select HDD, CPU, RAM, OS, KB, warranty
No screen or GFX though :) You're "stuck" with the 8700M and the 1920x1200

I think xxodd.nl offers about the same choices, but is a bit more expensive

I am having the same problem now. I'm doing a little research on EU customs regulations and such. So far its looking good.

according to the EU product denomination and tariff calculator TARIC, there are no duties on TARIC code 8471 30, which they define as:

Portable automatic data-processing machines, weighing not more than 10 kg, consisting of at least a central processing unit, a keyboard and a display.

However, each country will apply a VAT to them. In Italy its 20%, in Spain its 16%, in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, you have to find out. What this means (if i got it right) is that if you order from XoticPC for example, you have to add 20% (in italy) to the final price in euros.

I STRESS THAT I'M STILL CHECKING THIS INFORMATION

However, if you go to the states and pick it up yourself, destroy the packaging, shove it all in a bag and fly with it to europe, since they can't determine the origin of the laptop they can't even apply VAT tax to it. I am seriously considering this since I have relatives in the USA, but I'd have to wait for them to come to Italy and that could take years.

2702 dollar is my config at xotic, that means 1846 euro's... if i'd order at rock i'd be paying around 3000 euro's

what about repairs etc.. shipping costs from xotic to netherlands, and the vat coming with all that... i'd rather buy from xotic than from xxodd or some local company as they're so damn overpriced....

    397 x 284 x 22-44 mm; 3.9kg
    2 jaar carry in garantie
    Gratis 17" Draagtas

All this (top config, there are cheaper versions) for €2,499 @ www.laptops4u.nl
If you buy from Xotic, you'll have to add VAT (21% in Belgium or 19% in The Netherlands). This would make the price €2,234 in Belgium or €2,197 in The Netherlands. There's a difference, but not a very big one (considering the total price). Add to that the fact that it'll be less expensive to send it in if warranty is ever needed (you can opt for the pick up and return, but that'll cost extra). Mine came from there, and I'm happy with it. They forgot to include the activation key for Windows Vista, and they send it seperatly without much hassle. So as far as I can tell, their after-sales is OK as well :)

It would be more than 2300E if you import that configuration, but don't get anything besides the new CPUs now. Get a T9300/T9500 if you can.

yes i was aware of that, but the thing is, the warranty and specs offered by laptops4u etc and xxodd are not nearly as good as the rock package,
no fingerprint scanner too, no white trim, etc small things...im certainly getting either a t9300 or t9500 when ordering this, still rock offers the best package for me.. they are expensive though, nonetheless the pound is valued higher than the euro too...

I believe they all have a fingerprint scanner. You can also talk to Nexoc and Schenker.

for some reason i don't trust those german company's they seem so... i dunno, so unpersonal or something like that... i called xxodd and laptops4u, they didn't have the scanner, still it's not what you buy a laptop for, but any extra is a cool thing. i certainly want the silver trimmed version too, and 2 to 3 years full warranty. thanks for all the advising, any more people have a good hint?
