Yeah 10k is an extremely serious overclock and they would he using a 4930mx if they were that serious.

The highest score with GTX 780M and 4700MQ is 9522 and 8970 with official drivers. That was probably only possible with heavy overvolting and cranking up multipliers on CPU. Those are single enthusiasts not the norm. For example Prema who gets 5400 score with GTX 765M, while stock is 4300 and common OC is 4900. Doesn't mean that's is stable and playable.

    Even 4900MQ and 4930MX can't break 10k with a single GTX 780M.

Does OC really matter in a small enclosure?

You're better off not expelling extra heat.

Well I have always run my 680/780 chips at around 1ghz core speeds, along with cranking the memory up it helps in the AAA titles.

I dont even OC mine, since a 780m is powerful enough to play anything, but it still good to know it have nice capability to do so. Who knows... maybe 3 years from now it wont be enough to play demanding games at ultra with high FPS and instead buying a whole new notebook or even just a GPU, u can simply OC it and extend its life. And can be useful if u have any plans of playing in 4k.

Well it depends, battfield 4 running at high on a large multiplayer map still needs the power of SLI overclocked to go above 60FPS all the time. It also has an impact for those running displays faster than 60hz.

Well when people talk about scores, usually they mean P marks and neither combined or GPU score unless otherwise specified. Now I know what you meant :)

Kepler oc almost 50% when ov'd, should not be too dangerous with lovely temp protection from slv7 vbios, just don't try blow up the vrams or other components. Nvidia don't have temp sensor on those iirc xd

    50% was for the 680m.

A good tweaker will run the 780m from its stock 850/1250 to 1006/1500 for 24/7.

I run them at 1030/1750. Also power limits will be set for permanent turbo which also helps.

Based on what I'm reading here, I think the 780m is not overpriced at all. It's a deal compare to 7970m vs 680m upgrade. It's 30% faster without overclocked.

780m is the way to go.
