    Hi,

I plan to purchase a 7970m w/ EM vbios and blind flash to HM vbios so that it works in a non-optimus notebook.

I found a cheaper vendor selling this card, and considerably cheaper than ebay sellers. The vendor states "the motherboard version number must be V6.2 or later to support this video card".

I am wondering why the vendor would state that. Wouldn't a clevo 7970m w/EM vbios work in any P150EM/P170EM? Is there a new vbios w/ UEFI support? As long as I can vbios flash to an older one, it should be good.

However there is a recent Dell 7970m vbios that added UEFI support. Supposedly, that vbios prevents vbios flashing with any notebook not using a UEFI mainboard bios.

Is there such a vbios for the clevo 7970m that is also like that? Any input would be helpful. Much appreciated. Thanks.

I've not heard about a vbios becoming non flashable after an update, the EM series can't access the vbios at all anyway last time I checked.
