and anyone tried it on this model yet ?

sry for so many question cos haven't been catching up with all these stuff for months and kind of confused now.

"clevo 860" could mean you have a Clevo M860TU or a Clevo W860CU.

If you have a Clevo M860TU: No. You can't use an ATi Mobility HD 5870. Reason: 5870 uses MXM 3.0b, and the M860TU does not have an MXM 3.0b slot.

If you have a Clevo W860CU - Yes.

what games are you playing right now? and what games are you looking to play in the near future? those should be the questions you should ask yourself... depends on that if its worth the ugrade or just wait and see what come next

The GTX 280M can play anything perfectly fluently right now. Just wait what Nvidia brings out in the coming months, if you don't like that, you can still consider ugrading to a MR 5870.

For the temp, let's just say that the GPU core never went above 80 for furmark extreme burn under stock clock (thought was 85 at first, but later got to know it's actually the memory temp, core temp is even lower).

As for worth it or not, IMO not worth it unless you absolutely want to play game in DX11, the performance difference is not so much though.

Wait for Nvidia. Alienware Tech Support is already reporting that the M15x and M17x will be receiving the new GTX whatever cards in the upcoming months. I'd wait for them, to see how they measure up to the Mobility 5870.

No, no. I have a Mobility 5870 and love it, but if I already had a 280M, I wouldn't even consider upgrading. The increase in performance is not worth the cost. There will be better upgrade opportunities ahead.

    Are you sure about that?
    That would be great news.
I would love to see a new card :)

I don't think it's worth it. I know babyhemi had (has) a few cards going for about $460 in the NBR marketplace. That is a lot of money, considering you already payed that much for the GTX280 when you purchased your laptop originally.

If you are already getting over 60 FPS in any of your games. you will not see the difference anyway cause the display update rate is fixed at 60Hz.
