    Hello I am having a problem with my clevo M570TU I ordered off of sager.

    the Laptop is randomly rebooting seemingly randomly. sometimes it will reboot 2 min after i log in sometimes it will reboot 6hours after i log in.

    Im pretty sure its not overheating the temp seems to stay stable around 39-47

    Its not restarting the power is just turning off then immediately turning back on forcing it to go through the boot process again as if i were just turning it on.

    I have also reformatted once and the problem still persists.

    does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I have had the laptop since mid August and am wondering if I can/should just send it back (I dont know if this problem is covered in the warranty) however sending it back is a last resort as it has all my work on it and it is what im using to to my work.

    again any information or help you can offer i would very much appreciate.

    download memtest86 and run through it. Sounds like you might have some bad ram. Then try running it with only one stick of ram installed (assuming you have 2) and then the other stick. If one is bad then you can get your vendor to cross ship you some new ram without sending the system back

    Is anything showing up in the event logs? That might give an indication of what's forcing the shutdown/reboot.

    I'm going to say paranormal forces are shutting down your system. Some creepy Japaneese ghost girl is pushing the power button.

    But if you have gotten an exorcism already, I will say that my system is doing it too. Completely random. No way at all to tell when it will do it. I'll have to check the even logs and see if anything has been logged next time it happens.

    (I just finished watching Shutter, of course by myself, in bed, in a dark room, with my Sennheisers and X-Fi. The system froze at perhaps the scariest and creepiest moment in the movie and freaked me out. So I got the guts to turn it back on and when it came to the login screen, the system went into sleep like somebody pressed the power button... So freaked me out again. Finally got the video to start playing and I finished the film. Needless to say, an already scary movie, mixed with weird computer problems, made for a night full of adrenaline :) )

    Did the notebook come with a pre-installed OS or did you set it up? (I assume XP)

    Find the event log here:

    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, then click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. Or, open the MMC containing the Event Viewer snap-in.
    2. In the console tree, click Event Viewer.

    (Error log) And I guess post the last error (has an X? or a ! or one of those, I think) or last few errors.

    A memtest would never hurt :)

    Another thinge, is everything up-to-date driver wise? What powerstage are you running? Anything overclocked? As a random reboot can be many thinges, driver conflicts, bad memory (as already pointed out), unregular powersupply to the components... From the errors you stated, a full report of the ACPIEC and mrx smb errors would be great, havent seen thoes my self before :) DCOM, service control manager and w32time, I dont think its thoes getting you reboot troubles.

    None of those errors in particular would explain a reboot, though DCOM and SERVCE CONTROL MANAGER are often referring to other errors.

    A scarier error, but what may prove more useful as far as information is concerned, is if you set your computer to not automatically reboot

    START, right click COMPTUER, choose PROPERTIES, choose ADVANCED SETTINGS on the left, go to STARTUP AND RECOVERY settings and uncheck AUTOMATICALLY RESTART

    Next time you reboot, you will get a nice descriptive BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

    Report the stop error and any relevent file (for example, error occured in XXXX.sys)

    Your error is most likely memory related, but it is also possibly driver related.

    Ignore DCOM and SERVICE CONTROL MANAGER errors for now. As far as ACPIEC error, see if there is a bios update. If you click on MRX SMB it will reveal a network error of some kind

    okay so i have bios 1.00.05 does anyone know where i can get the updated bios?

    the automatic restart thing has been off so its not that, there is absolutely no bluescreen.

    the acpiec error is
    \Device\ACPIEC: The embedded controller (EC) hardware didn't respond within the timeout period. This may indicate an error in the EC hardware or firmware, or possibly a poorly designed BIOS which accesses the EC in an unsafe manner. The EC driver will retry the failed transaction if possible.

    the mrx smb error is
    The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer ALS that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{55D949A1-EB6F-4B2A-9978. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced.

    sorry but for memtest will i need to dl nero and put the img on the disk?

    also my computer came preinstalled with vista but i switched to xp professional myself

    Neither error will cause a reboot.

    Apiec simply means it will try whatever it wanted to try later, and the mrx error simply means that another computer was turned on for your network and the two computers were trying to decide who was boss on the network and would pass out network share information.

    Yes, for memtest you burn it (there are free burning softwares by the way - try CDBurnerXP, it's probably the best free burner software) to a cd or dvd and run it upon reboot. It takes a long time, as it checks the ram bit by bit.

    Lots of random blue screens pointing to multiple sources of error (are there multiple souces of error?) is very often a RAM error, yeah, so this might be the first thing that you want to do. The event logger isn't perfect either, and I've had it not catch blue screens all the time (depending on the cause).

    Update: i have noticed that the reboots tend to happen when im playing a game or when im watching a video online, it will still crash when if im not doing these things randomly but the frequency is much higher when i am doing these things.

    alright so which memtest do i download
    Memtest86 3.4a Release (27/Dec/2007)

    * Download - Linux Memtest86 v3.4 Source and binary Package
    * Download - Pre-Compiled Memtest86 v3.4a installable from Windows and DOS

    ISO images suitable for creating a bootable Memtest86 CD-ROM

    * Download - Memtest86 v3.4a ISO image (zip)
    * Download - Memtest86 v3.4a ISO image (gzip)

    im not getting blue screens the laptop seems to just randomly power off then immediately power back on without warning or a bluescreen

    also what do i do with the bios and kbc zips once i have them

    The easiest thing to do is to download the 'Memtest86 v3.4a ISO image (zip)', unzip it, burn to disc and boot from that, it'll automatically start the tests, leave it for a while (at least 1 full pass of the standard tests if not 2 passes)

    re the bios and kbc, make a bootable usb flash drive (refer to zfactors guide if needed) then copy all the files inside the zips to that drive, boot from it then type 'refresh' (without the quotes) to flash the bios and 'updateEC' for the kbc/ec firmware

    Any solution yet on this problem? I got the exact same problem and are going to send my m570tu back for service, hopefully they will be able to fix it or atleast give me a brand new one. Just bought this one 2 weeks ago and the first reboot happened when I was in the middle of installing vista ultimate 64 bit for the first time (No OS came with the laptop).

    Do you by any chance have 4GB of ram in your system, and more specifically OCZ ram?

    you can check this using CPU-Z

    Try contacting your reseller. If it turns out both sticks are fine, but cannot work together, they might replace one of them so you can use the full 4 gb again :)

    Yup that is a definite memory problem there, however if both sticks are fine it may very well be one of them was not seated properly, it can occur from time to time. Another thing although at times some modules seem to act properly alone when in dual channel they can cause these crashes due to a defective in a module which is not always fully apparent creating the ghost in the machine sort of effect. As M3z3iAs states would be best to send the modules to retailer/manufacture for testing so they can replace 1 or both of the defective modules so you can get up and running again.
