    Hello all,

First post here and basically my 6990m died on me in my P150HM so I've been looking around for information related to upgrading it with either a 7970 or 8970m card. I know after reading its not as easy as a desktop and I've never had to flash the bios on anything which makes me nervous as they dont accept any returns so if I buy one and I cant get it to work well thats a crapload of money to waste. Has anyone replaced a 6990m vc with either a 7970m or 8970m in a p150HM and get it to work? If so, what would I need to do and any recommendations where I could get these? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to NBR!
The 7970M will work but not the 8970M. When purchasing a new card do be sure its a Clevo card and not any other brand.

you could also try a resusitation to bring it back to life.

search for the baking method on here.

cant link to it as at work.

I see that you are a retailer. Does your company sell the 7970m vc for a clevo? If not, where would be the best place in your opinion to get one? I actually bought the laptop from Malibal and when I bought it I had no idea it was a clevo and how all that worked until I checked the system info one day, saw clevo in there and had no idea about them as I only had purchased laptops before from the big chain stores(acer, dell, etc).

Problem is I just scored a new job and I found out their employees typically utilize their own laptops on the job and if I cant get this thing fixed in time I will be forced to go out and waste money on the cheapest thing I can find. Any information you could give to help me would be a godsend b/c I have to do something and very soon. Thank you

    Mr. DJ,

Thanks for the tip, I did see that on here however being I will have to use it for work and the new job I had mentioned previously I dont have the luxury to try b/c it needs to be 100% reliable and I would be too nervous it would fail one day while on the job. Thank you though I do appreciate the input

    your welcome.
can totally understand if its going to be used for work. the baking method does work but theres no gaurantee if it will last a month or 2 years.

also glad you found the below link usefull :D

you could always keep an eye on our own marketplace as theres always someone selling parts. but as mentioned make sure its a clevo card and not a dell NBR Marketplace
