    Hi all

Iam a new user here and im looking into buying either a
    Sager NP6165 / Clevo W150ERM or a Sager NP 9150 / Clevo P150EM

now i have noticed that the keyboards on these laptops don't have a double row enter key, this is kind a deal breaker for me and before any one decided to start jumping up and down making a fuss and say go look else where, i have found other clevos/sagers that do have that double row key.

like the model reviewed in this thread
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...evo-p150hm-pcs-vortex-ii-15-review-rebel.html

do steelseries manufacture a normal or backlit keyboard that has a double row return key? or can i buy a replacement from a reseller.

ive noticed that alienware also have 2 different styles of keyboards with there new x17 x18's

my current laptop is an acer aspire 6920 and iam used to typing on a keyboard of that style so any help and advice would be helpful

    Thanks.

this question is definitely best directed at the resellers. i would email or call them. like the stock keyboard, the steelseries upgrade some of the resellers were offering with the 9150 for awhile did not have a double-row enter either. i think it unlikely that you'll find one for either machine, but it's best to check with the resellers directly. may i ask why this is a deal breaker for you?

I personally prefer to have the other keys larger/present versus a bigger enter key. It is a matter of personal preference though. I can say for certain that the NP9170 doesn't have a 2 row enter key either. In fact, I am pretty sure that the keyboards on the NP9150 and NP9170 are the same.

hey, that's what sundays are for. :p but we wonder if there's a different compatible keyboard option from the stock or the steelseries altogether.

As a touch typist I know how you feel. If somebody were to produce a more conventional keyboard with a double row enter key I'd buy it in a heartbeart.

That said, you do get used to the slightly odd layout relatively quickly.

The "Enter" key might be small, but at least there are two "\" keys.

    /sarcasm

I don't know who the genius is behind this keyboard, but that key could have been a menu key or a smiley face...

The only notebooks I've seen that have the double enter key have been for models offered outside of the states. It looks like that is the case with the model you linked as well. You may be able to contact a clevo seller thats outside of the states and ask if you can just buy the keyboard from them.

Nah, we get the same keyboard here, no double enter key. There's a couple of keys that are in the wrong place, which is why it's annoying.

im in the UK sorry guys forgot to mention that.

if clevo have launched laptops in the past with the larger return key would it be possible to order one of them and replace it with the single and smaller return models?

thanks for the advice so far.

My computer does not have a "double enter key" as well (P170EM), but I'm almost used to it now, - after a couple of months. I don't think that it is a big deal, so I wouldn't do anything about it.

the board in the laptop model i linked to is a UK QWERTY board
and i have looked on the net for a replacement to see if it will fit into
the new cleveo models. but all i can find are qwertz boards

il try and get in contact with a uk reseller to see what style the board they offer is. but having looked at the laptops in pc world and comet i could not find one laptop with a single row return key. even the mac airs have a double row but a very skinny one.

its kind of important feature of a keyboard when you have been used to typing for decades on one type of layout as the right shift key on uk boards is large and on American ones large but on the left

anyway i do hope celvo/sager offer qwerty boards with the larger key
maybe next years models will have this.

    Thanks

As much as It's a deal breaker I felt it was one for me too... until I got used to it.

It really makes no difference once you get used to it, it really doesn't :)

well clevo have offered a qwerty board with larger return key on last years models. see my 1st post . will any of those keyboards work? i know they are not backlit. its a real shame they didnt offer a uk keyboard for new models. its not a case of "getting used to it" I touch type at a high speed and have to "get used to a new layout will be dysfunctional for me.

so maybe this will catch the eye of a reseller or clevo so they can offer such a feature. if all your doing is gaming then i would agree but i dont have a pc any more and iam looking for my next "desktop replacement" laptop.
