    Hi,
I am interested in purchasing a barebone W860CU and getting the cpu/ram/hdd/wireless parts elsewhere. But every store I see only sells the glossy screen. Does this even come in matte? THanks.

Some resellers sell it with non-glare displays (for example mySN in Germany), but I'm sure other resellers have that option, too. However, it has been suspected that those are just displays that have an added non-reflective layer, therefore no true matte screen. You would not want that, because you loose viewing quality. I prefer matte screens, too, but although the W860CU display is super glossy, it also has a very high brightness which makes up for it. Even during the day it is not too annoying. However, you will not be able to use this laptop outside or on battery, but thanks to it's massive battery that's not possible anyway ;-)

Is RJTech the only place that sells the barebone W860CU? Since it's in CA, I'm trying to avoid the tax.

mySN (the German reseller) does indeed sell the W860CU with a matte 1600x900 panel, but not with a resolution of 1920x1080. I use it the matte one and really like it.

They do sell 1080p matte displays now. I just checked yesterday. I talked one of their technicans on CeBIT and they all love matte screens, that's why they insisted on them. However, all manufacturers seem reluctant to produce matte displays... and you have to pay more, but it's usually is worth it. I definitely would have gone for the matte display, but that was no option when I bought my W860CU... maybe I'll contact them about exchanging the display, but like I said, although the W860CU glossy display is basically a mirror, the high brightness makes up for it and I'm not going to use it outside anyway.

I love matte screens and i would love to see more adaption of them in all notebooks let consumers understand and appreciate non glossy and easily viewable outside screen.

Since mySN offers them, any Clevo reseller should be able to get them, probably you will have to pay a bit more (I mean on top of what you pay for the more expensive matte screen anyway).

But I agree, matte screens are great as long as quality does not suffer, the display can look grainy, but that depends on what kind of matte screen is used.

I have the matte ("non glare") FHD panel in my mySN XMG6. The panel is a joy, confirming my decision to select mySN. Some other retailers do not offer this panel.

While we are on the subject; does anyone know where to find the ICC pfofile file for this panel ?
