hi - just purchased the clevo d800p and now I'm having bootup problems.
Had it up and running, downloaded favorites and games, no problem, for a couple of days. Turned it off to go to bed, got up in the morning and it won't boot past POST screen. Now it goes to the next screen (hit control+F to enter whatever) and then goes back to first screen. Hit F2 to enter setup, it changes to "entering setup" and stops. I'm a complete neophyte when it comes to fixing computers but I would like to get this up and running again. thanks for any help.

Welcome to notebookreview,
D800P?
I never heard of it,
It seems that you have a hardware problem.
I am not familiar with the system, but their are a few things you should check.
1) memory
2) fans
3) connectors
Turn your system over and go to the memory bay, remove the plastic cover and remove both memory cards. Try powering the system up with one memory card at a time. This could isolate a memory error failure. Try different combinations, one memory card in each slot, and so forth. If the system boots with one card, but not the other than you need to RMA the memory card.
If the system does not boot with either, chances are both memory cards work and their is a different problem.
If my assumption works, the D800P came before the D900K. I have a D900K and it is maybe 2 yrs old, but some can be 3 years old or so. So your system maybe 3 years old or more. That means that you have 3 years of dust accumulated inside of your laptop.
I recommend that you take the system apart and clean both the heatsinks and the fans.
You can use rubbing alcohol and q-tips, or compressed air. Just make sure everything is clean before you put it back together.
Dust blocks heat from escaping the laptop, so it could have potentially overheated.
Now problems which can happen from overheating, is failed motherboards or melted graphics cards. Since you say it powers up and the screen comes on the video card most likely works.
Your problem may be a melted motherboard, but the only way to know is to isolate any other problems, like memory, dust and connections.
When you take the system apart to clean it, make sure that all of the connectors are properly connected. You need to check everything from keyboard and touchpad connectors to wireless antennas and speaker cables.
Let us know how it works out
Good luck,
K-TRON
