Does anyone know if clevo has or ever will offer a cd drive battery,or some other type of extended battery, or has anyone made an extended battery. The only reason I mention it is because I have one on my dell latitude d820.

Doubtful. Not sure if the main board could even support it.

i thought as much. the thing about my current computer is that there is an extra port in dvd drive slot, designed for the extra battery. but it would be a good idea considering how low the battery life is on some of these machines.

In the past they use to with the Sager 5690 (if some of you remember this one :)). Each Battery would get you a whopping 1-1.5 hours of battery life with a ATi 9700 & P4 CPU. :p

As for current models we have not heard of this option but that does not mean in the future they will. It is definitely a good feature.

the main reason its good is because if you have two main batteries and the disk drive battery, you can change batteries without turning off the computer, and back when they had P4s 1 to 1.5 hours of extra life is pretty good.

just saw that sony has a sheet battery, that goes underneath the computer. i think something like that could work, as long as it had holes for ventilation from the cpu and gpu. if i ever get my hands on a cnc mill i'll make one of those. it would be fairly simple to wire up, just take a normal battery, and add cells in parallel to the existing cells. it shouldn't need any software modifications or anything.

I'm not familiar with those batteries, but it sounds like they're just external battery packs that plug in through the charging port. In that case, there are quite a few of those types of batteries out there. Granted, they may not have 1) the right wattage 2) the right plug type or 3) much run time, but there are external battery solutions anyway :) You're right though, a DVD bay battery would be convenient though probably not adding a ton of run time.
