hi! i´m from Portugal, and i want to buy a clevo P150HM, hoping you could help me configurate it. I can spend about 2500€.
I was thinking something like this:

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-2920XM, or 2820 if the other one stays out of budget

Memory: 16Gb DDR3 1333 MHZ at least. Is it possible to use 1600 MHZ ddr3 memory in this laptop?

Graphics: AMD® Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5. Is it worth to pay the double for the GTX 485m? i´m affraid it gets out of budget..

Disc: 240 Gb SSD Vertex 3 or 120 Gb vertex 3 + some 7200 rpm disc with at least 500 Gb

    Blu-ray reader and burner

    Thank you

If you are only going to game, pick the lowest quad core, the 2630QM. A better CPU is a waste of money. The 2920XM cant be OCed in the P150, so its not worth it at all.

6970M performance is almost identical to the GTX 485M.

EDIT: Welcome to the forum :)

Yes, I would recommend going up to at least the 2720QM for your usage, though I am not quite sure about prices in EU.

thank you! i have one last question. I want 16 gb of ram, 4x4. Is it possible to use 1600 ddr3 instead of 1333 mhz?
    thank you

It only supports max of 8gb 1600 ddr3, and I believe 2x4. In any case, the difference between 1333 and 1600 should not be very apparent to most people.

I would suggest that you get the 2720QM (normally best bang for the buck), 8 GB ram (you can easily upgrade if you need more ram), the 120 gb SSD for the OS/APPs, the 750 gb HHD for storage, and if the lower cpu, ssd, and ram allows for you to get the GTX 485m then do so. Nvidia GPUs seem to work better with Photoshop from what I have heard from these forums.

i am a video editing enthusiast and im telling you now you really dont need a 2920xm. also note that you cant overclock this on the 8150.
im not that familiar with audio editing, but unless your doing real heavy workloads, i suggest getting the 2630qm as others have mentioned.
just fas an fyi, i can easilly edit 720p videos in 2-3 layers with effects and transitions on my setup. it used to struggle heavilly with the 720qm i had before. also note that although gpu's help a little in rendering transitions and effects during the edit processes, most video editing operations are still heavilly cpu dependent, and the 2630qm can handle most of them.

It is of general notion that adobe applications will take up anything you throw at them, hardware-wise. Premiere Pro CS5, maxes out my i7-2720 & 460m(mpe) powers. But only takes about 6GB max on memory (8GB installed). I could go further on the processor and Premiere Pro will still max it out. But for now, I'm happy exporting my 1080 files at faster than realtime! Photoshop on the otherhand, tends to be memory-intensive and photoshop users favor ram size more than speed and clock.

Thank you all for your help. I guess i end up choosing something like this, for 2300 €:

    Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-2820QM, 8MB L3 Cache, 2.30-3.40GHz
    Memory: 16Gb DDR3 1333 MHZ
    Graphic card: AMD® Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
Disc: 240 Gb SSD Vertex 3
    Blu-ray burner

My main concern was to choose between the graphic cards, but i have to pay extra 150€ for nvidia and i don´t think is worth it.
    tomorrow i´ll order it!
    Thank you

Really depends on what you intend to do, AMD's drivers are very hit and miss and require alot of tweaking to get the best out of them, Also if anything you are doing requires phyix or CUDA then Nvidia is easily the way to go
