Hello guys,
fixed one problem now another problem pops up just not my day is it.
Basically whats happening is when i unplug my p170sm from the mains and leave it on battery power this high pitched buzzing sound comes into my headphones while they are plugged in, i tried messing around with sound and stuff and to no avail.
Tried changing brightness setting for some stupid reason, and the strange thing is when i put my brightness level to all the way up it makes a big buzzing noise in my headphones, but when i put the brightness all the way down it goes almost silent the problem seems to be the brightness setting ...
I have tested the machine plugged into the mains and it does not do any of the above the only time it does it is when its unplugged and changing the brightness settings makes the noise go up and down ?.
Trying to isolate the problem is proving to be hard, im thinking of reinstalling windows soon its issue after issue hope you guys can help me.
UPDATE!.
It does the same while plugged in but this time turning the brightness down makes the buzzing noise in my headphones instead of turning it up while unplugged from the mains .... WHAT IN THE NAME IS GOING ON HERE LOL....

two others are having the same problem as you,

My XG13 (W230ST) is fine, though. Both with audio input from the jack and not, using a pair of Parrot Zik headphones.
It's an EM shielding issue, and there's no remedies for it thus far -
Happened on my old NP8660 (M860TU) and pretty much was stuck with it. But it happened all the time, regardless if my headphones were in. I think there are some remedies out there somewhere...but I eventually just tuned it out.

I had a buzzing sound on my headphones when I first got my W370ET.
But it turned out the internal mic was not muted (and was receiving the sound that comes from my internals).
I just muted it and ever since that day, I became a happy customer.
Check it out under Audio Devices and check all sliders for microphone. Mute the damned thing. Only the internal mic, that is. -

It's likely EM coming from the power circuitry that changes the battery voltage for use inside the machine, the draw will drop quite a lot on battery power when you reduce the brightness.
When I move over to the states and am set up with my 5935G motherboard on the bench i'll be able to recover cards for people if they are desperate. -
Hey guys!,
Just an update.
been messing around with the laptop now trying to fix my issues but i just cant get around that buzzing issue, its really disturbing me while playing my video games.
Its really really annoying, my crap 6 years old laptop does not do this so why does my £1300 laptop do it maybe a botched board job ?.
Anyway im still hunting for a new bios and the buzzing fix if i cnat get them in the next 1-2 months this p170sm is going on ebay.

A good USB headset or soundcard would get rid of any audio issues if you want to keep the machine.

Hi all, I hope that this is the right forum to ask this question:
I've done hours of research for buying a new laptop for video editing (similar requirements to gaming), and I've narrowed it down to two: The Asus G750JX-TB71 and the Clevo Clevo P170SM. I will customize whichever one I buy with similar hardware, so can anyone give me a recommendation on which is better? Particularly, for this thread, are you satisfied with the Clevo, including performance, fan sound, screen etc... I appreciate any feedback that would help, as I've been struggling to make a decision. Thanks so much! -
My apologies for posting this question in this thread. Forums are rather new to me. I've moved to the proper page. Thanks!
