There is the test result, in the few first minutes with the small ftt test, prime95 reached out 99º, and only later it reduced for 93º.

Isn't 99º just too damn much? I've read that 100º is the max for this cpu

Yes 99C is too much.. Repaste with some Gelid GC Extreme... You'll be hitting 90C ++ at this rate in BF4...

Prime95 is meant to stress your CPU and its typical to see very high temps with it. Its like stepping on your gas pedal in the car while in park, it is going to redline :). But that does not translate to real world us. Try another benchmark like 3DMark which is push the system to typical gaming performance then monitor the CPU and GPU temps to see where you're at.

I tried heavy load and cpu burner (furmark), and cpu burner gave the same result, heavyload stayed at 90ºC, I wonder if this has something to do with turboboost.

I left heavyload run for 2 hours, at 90ºC did it lowered the life expectancy of the cpu?

In some threads users say anything above 80ºC is dangerous

Have you checked temps while under normal use like gaming? Or another program that is CPU intensive, then checked the temp. Running burnin test are always going to result in high temps, its the whole purpose of them. I highly doubt you shorted the life expepectancy, but there is no way to really tell since there is no set X amount.

I'm sorry to say this, either that information is wrong, or incomplete. I have another cpu on this laptop, I do the same tests and the result is completely different. Here the temperatures gradually go up, reaching 85ºC at 10 minutes, and barely going over. There's no jump over 99ºC in 5 seconds like the 4720 hq does, and there isn't a steady 90ºC one hour after. Arguing that it's because the stress tests are meant to do it just shows lack of knowledge, since the same tests provide different results with the same tests. Only the cpu is different, but that was not what you argued for, and i doubt it's supposed to work like that.

I do still stand behind saying stress test are meant to do this, because they are, hence the name "stress test"
Prime95 and FurMark and the like programs are really designed to test overclocking, stability, and temperatures once you have changed other settings from their stock settings.

However you providing this additional information is very helpful. If I understand correctly you have two identical CPU's you are using.

Just curious how you are doing this since your 4720HQ it is a socketed CPU and can not be removed. Not saying you didn't just curious how you did so? What is the other CPU you are using, is it another i7-4720HQ?
Also when you switch CPU's what kind of thermal compound are you using, and what method of application are you using. That will make a difference in results.

No, I have a different laptop with a different cpu, and it doesn't reach the same high temperatures you say it's supposed to reach.

Is it a Haswell CPU? Because Prime is notorious for burning Haswell chips fast, you can't really compare the impact on Haswell vs older chips and most circles will tell you not to use Prime to test Haswell and instead to use something like AIDA64.

We do want to help and getting the most information possible is needed. What is the other make/model of your other system and what is the CPU? It may be thicker with better cooling. As mentioned before also try putting better thermal compound on the CPU/GPU. Thats really the most you can do.

@Ethrem when did you become a Moderator? Congrats!!!!!!! :D
