Ok now I understand what is going on.
What display do you have in your TM right now, if you have 120/144 hz you might not need another cable.
A custom display not supported by bios, even though it is supported electrically, specific functions such as brightness control and/or Gsync might not work.

i see! Its a 75hz gsync thats inside the laptop now. I dont really care for gsync to work or not. Most likely it wont work anymore since its not a gsync panel. Brightness shud work i hope tho! Im willing to give it a try as long it is supported electronicly. I mean as long it doesnt kill my mainbord.

The BIOS has a white list of panels for internal G-sync regardless if the panel is or is not too.

In this case look up your current panel (hwinfo) and check the pinout.

So yes that's a 30 pin connector so you would need a 40 pin cable too to get a 120hz or high resolution panel.

Electrically yes, the thickness/mounting may have changed so some double sided tape can be needed in cases.

Ive upgraded it and im very pleased! With the i9-9900k, runs stable 4.986mhz on all cores! Without any OC. Ive ordered also a 2080 from clevo yesterday . I was considiring the x170km-g but after reading and asking advice in the threat il skip it totally :)

my only problem is the screen to chooise.. 1080p 240hz is fine, but 4k is to much again. Isnt there a 1440p screen with 144hz or more that fits this machine?

1440p is a very nice resolution to run though the panel option is very limited.

You only have 3 choices to pick from and it's all about what you can get shipped at this point. Verify the exact model is what's being sold

Since they're all the same base model / just search for that.

Personally I used kreplacement.com after a couple of tries with other vendors that shipped "compatible" models instead of the one I was looking for.

The compatible is always the killer but then the resolution or refresh rate would be different so it would be significantly inferior.

When I did mine there were 2 options as well and the one I needed had 4K in the description. There's usually clues in the description to point you in the right direction. It should work though for your upgrade.

I couldn't get ahold of a 120hz at the time due to lockdown in CN. My goal was 120hz though and there was only 1 model at the time and it was nowhere to be found at a reasonable price anyway. 60hz though is fine for what I do as I'm not doing anything that requires a high FPS.

The 4k panels don't tend to overclock much if at all either.

I can only imagine cooking a GPU trying to OC 4K or higher density panels. And 8K SMH would be a bit of a test even at 60hz. Obviously there are other rendering options outside of laptops that can handle that sort of thing or displays that have some built in HW to assist.

A laptop 3080 at 210W ish with overclocked RAM should do fine.

    Aren't those 240hz and 360hz panels TN?

I don't really mind a good TN panel for desktop use but for a laptop I always start with an IPS matte as my baseline. Mostly because I was in and out of a lot of hotels during that stretch of time to which I came to that conclusion after seeing my own reflection on glossy panels and sometimes just wanted to have a chill time after a long day and TN's typically need more angle adjustment so that you don't see the inverted colors.

As mentioned before though if a vendor won't state in a message that it's the very same model then keep looking elsewhere. Honestly criminal how they allow that crap on ebay.

I don't believe any higher end panels are TN any more.
