The BIOS does not allow it at least, and I am pretty sure overclocking voids most warranties.

I have never seen the point.

The CPU is strong enough to run any game, no point in overcloking anyway. You better go for a 7.2k rpm HDD, that will give you a better overall increasement.

I have and will not test it myself but I you want to overclock that badly you can check SetFSB. Find out the PLL generator of the W860CU and try to change the FSB with SetFSB. It is likely that this won't work. So you would have to mod the PLL generator and unless you know what you are doing, this will damage the mainboard and void guarranty because then it is obvious for any support that you modified your laptop.

Maybe you can try it out in two years but right now it's totally pointless.

Setfsb doesn't support your chipset so it wont be able to enable the SMbus.
I agree that a PLL pin mod could work, but it's likely your PLL is new and the datasheet is not yet released (like the PLL The Moo found in his aleinware).

And yeah, your CPU is already really fast :)

You would. But it is propably smarter to just wait until SSDs are more affordable and buy one of those then you will see a big increase.

Your CPU will turbo boost its clock rate as and when needed.

Same here. I think that is only a feature on certain chipsets, like the ones used in netbooks. Well, the W8600CU is not really made for battery use anyway. But if you use the sidebar there is a gadget called Battery Monitor which shows you how much time you have left ( http://www.julien-manici.com/comments/?id=1).

well you never have more than 60-80 minutes so just look at the clock when you unplug, and an hour from then it will go to sleep :D

Try this battery monitor, it gives me a time remaining when nothing else would.
