hi all, I believe I've read in a few places (but unable to search for them now) that I might need some type of intel matrix driver software? Is this true? or is it only needed for turbo memory (which I do not have)

Actually, after installing windows 7 and a couple of the drivers off the CD, and installing the NVidia drivers, is there anything else I need for my laptop to be optimal/complete?

Furthermore, where can I configure the 2 hotkey buttons on the top of my sager? (e-mail and web browser) Somehow my web browser button got mapped to google chrome, and I do not know how to change it

You must be able to configure the hotkeys using a software in one of your (driver) CDs. I did the same to configure my Acer keys. Also I dont know if you can do this without a software.

For starters, you might need to monitor the temperatures a bit and see that all components run within the safe temp range. Find the guide here - http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=81852

Dont know abt intel matrix driver software, u see my lappy is still in the 90's :) Have heard ppl speaking of it as a solution for HDD overheating in one of the threads in this forum.

    best of luck.

All I have heard about turbo memory is that it will fast up the booting process. Dont think it is related to the intel matrix drivers. Awaiting expert comments on this.

Its a great notebook, I have it and I run Windows 7 just fine. All I have had is some printer problems and problems with the camera.

I also installed windows 7 (peer opinions on vista were..unsatisfactory).
I have not tried printing yet, and I just manually installed the webcam drivers this morning. Seems to work now.

I do not own turbo memory, it was quite a hefty cost that I felt I could do without.

The reason I asked about driver downloads was because the driver CD that came with the notebook were meant for windows XP and vista. Windows 7 does a decent job of automatically installing some drivers, but some must be manually chosen. (nvidia's video card driver, biometric thumb reader, etc)

I got most of the essentials from the CD. I had to download the webcam driver and nvidia manually. So I'm just asking if there's anything else other 8662 owners think I should have downloaded/installed. The reason I asked about intel matrix was because I saw that name come up in some threads regarding high hard drive temperatures.
